The Iraqis will never hold the country together. Many of the IEDs found in Iraq by our troops are Iranian made. The use of suppressed weapons in at least one of these attacks shows a new degree of sophistication by the terrorists which points to state backing, probably again Iran. Since the attacks are aimed at Sunni Imams as well, that further points to Iranian interference because Iran is Shia as are many Iraqis.

I think we are soon going to come to regret having unseated Saddaam. Evil man though he was, he kept a lid on his country and checked Iranian ambitions. We destroyed the only real local opposition they faced and soon we will be leaving. I just hope the idiot generals and vastly dumber politicians have plan for pulling our troops out of Afghanistan was Iraq crumbles and Pakistan turns unfriendly. I also hope that plan isn't to give in to all manner of demands to get our hostage troops out of there.

Just keep in mind, threatening the Iranians with violence doesn't work. They completely believe that mass bloodshed will lure their hidden imam out of the well he's been hiding in for a thousand years to lead a global genocide against all non-believers.

Gunmen also stormed the house of Sheikh Bashir Mutlaq Salah, an imam of the Sunni mosque in the village of Salem Abdul Hameed, 60 km north of Baquba. The attackers killed Sheikh Salah along with his wife and eight- year-old daughter, the source said, adding that the security forces had sealed off the scene and began a raid in search of the perpetrators. In another incident, unidentified gunmen assassinated a lieutenant colonel in the Iraqi army Friday morning with silenced weapons near his home in the Ghazaliya area in west Baghdad. The latest wave of violence reflects the challenges the Iraqi security forces are facing in their struggle to restore stability and normalcy to the Iraqi cities about eight month before the U.S. forces fully withdraw from the country.
