Guest guest
That's simply because the United States stopped valuing education in the sciences, along with China's much greater population. The number of science degrees awarded to Americans has been declining over the years, particularly away from hard sciences like physics. We might be getting a lot of "green" sciences, but a lot of that is no doubt based on flawed research such as that into global warming. The decline has been on for some time, but mainly since the schools fell under the Department of Education, which essentially dumbed standards down for the last 30 years. Real education fell in favor of trendy junk like whole language, funny math and self-esteem along with the inability of teachers to maintain any kind of order in class. Its bed of our own making and we're not going to like sleeping in it. In a message dated 3/29/2011 2:44:41 P.M.
