Guest guest
When did you switch back to the acyclovir? If it was within a week or two, I would think that it's die off as that pretty much sounds right for die off. CherylMy 4.5yo has been on antivirals pretty much forever. She started on acyclovir @6mos, then moved to valtrex about 1.5 years ago. Over that time I have tried to play with or decrease her dose, always with major regression. This is frustrating because at this point she is essentially indistinguishable until a change like that is made. She has been sicker recently than I have seen her in a long time. Her blood levels seem to be off and neutrophils are down to a bit under 1000. Also, her HSV1 titer was checked and came back at 5.92 (upper reference .9) Her previous high was 2.1 At my request the DAN agreed to try acyclovir again to see it we could shock it back down. She is on the equivalent of 1000mg in 3 doses, 8 hours apart. Since Tuesday she is whiny, disagreeable and flat our dangerous. She is running away, and seems to want to crawl out of her skin. I never had a "die off rxn" with her before. Is this what I would look for?Thanks-Lori
