Guest guest
Again, if you go to www.drneubrander.com and go to "downloads" , then scroll down the page to find the area for patients where you can click on the "supplement review worksheet"...download that. Plug in your child's weight, etc and add in each ingredient for each supplement. It will tell you how much you are using vs. how much is recommended. For 52 lb. (non chelating) child as is mine, his worksheet recommmends 1182-2364 mg/day of l-carnitine. 50-100 mg coQ10. Hope this helps. Re: can coq10 & l carnitine make you tired is your son ASD? how much were you giving?I admit this is the first time I hear it - ds gets 'awaken' by those, wecannot give them near bedtime. But then everyone is different. I wouldtry juggling the dose and time of day a bit, as long as you see anypositives it is worth trying.I take both myself - a few times I took q10 later in the day and wouldstay wide awake and springy till 2am...Natasa>> I had given my son coq10 and it seemed to make him tired. I had laterheard that you should give carnitine at the same time to work with it. This time with the carnitine it really sedated him and made him tired! I didn't think it was supposed to do that?! Now those ADHD/Aspie kidscan be backward, but should this be?>> Bonita>

Guest guest
2364mg of carnitine sounds a lot! don't know what he is basing it on but the most recent study on carnitine for kids talked about 1500mg per day being the recommended safety limit. More that that is probably safe but I wonder what made DrN come up with that number? q10 has fantastic safety record, again all tests were done on adults but they found that even as high as 2000mg per day is well tolerated in adults. We are keeping to one DAN's recommendation of 3 to 6mg per pound for a child, ds is about 40lb so giving around 120-240mg per day. Guest guest
It's tedious to get started but awesome once it's done. His supp. recommendations are high compared to what I am doing now. What do you think of them?
