Guest guest
Ann, My son has been on GABA for a long time. Recently, we added 5htp and we saw some minor improvements that were inconsistent at best. I added in l-theanine and we saw much more consistent gains in the areas of calmness and focus. On a hunch, I removed the 5htp and the gains remained. I know some kids do use them together but I think for my son 5htp was only slightly effective and the l-theanine a much better match, so I dropped the 5htp. Hello,My son Matthias (hyperlexia ADD) has been having problems with focus and attention lately in regular class, I know that a bacterial infection is troubling him and I am seeing a DAN to treat this, will probably need an antibiotic because natural supplements don't cover the problem completely. Following his urine analysis, his serotonin levels were very high, so I must supply him with 5-htp, attention was better for a time but not enough. I read on the internet about l-theanine and some sites state that you shouldn't combine those because l-theanine decreases the serotonin levels that are build op with 5-htp.Does anyone know on this list if it is save to combine both ?He gets some GABA as well to calm him down but still than he remains rather nervous, not calm enough to read his questions when he has a test, certainly not when it is comprehensive reading because that is asking a lot of him. Says for himself that is nervous.Anyone thoughts on this and how much l-theanine should I give him together with 5-htp ?Ann

Guest guest
L-Theanine is magical for our 3y/o dd. Especially with attention, calming and focus. We use capsule form from New Beginnings with breakfast, and use EndoTrex spray from Neuroscienceinc.com symptomatically. The Endotrex spray is highly concentrated Theanine, and it is unbelievable how well it works with our daughter - within 15- 20 minutes! http://www.myhealth-store.com/endotrex60ml.html Hope this helps. Guest guest
We give 1 capsule with food in the morning (100 mg). Sometimes we give another with lunch. The EndoTrex did require a Dr.'s order originally, although it is not a pharmaceutical. The link I provided above allows you to buy it without this Dr's order. We usualy just give 2 sprays under the tongue when she is showing hyperactivity, tantruming or not transitioning well. Helps us a lot! As always, start slow if you are going to trial it without labs first. Best of Luck! Josh
