Guest guest
, Thanks for the information. We went to an infectious disease doctor at UC . Dr. G. knows the total " Hell " they gave me for being on the protocol in the first place. After a few pain staking months of deciding what to do...we decided to stay with Dr. G. and the protocol. During that month we backed him off the anti viral and anti fungal. The head of the infectious disease department made me feel like a bad mother for having him on them in the first place. Even though my son tested positive for herpes 6 and Epsteins Barr. I was told they were not high enough. Dr. G. was very kind. He seemed to understand my worry... When we decided to stay with Dr. G. I began to slowly add the medication back. I once again saw improvement. The only thing I had a problem with was the anti viral. This is something the UCD docs told me was impossible (behavior changes that is). We stayed the course and things seemed fine. When I ran out this time the pharmacy had to order it. So that is why he I did not have it for 5 days. I am seeing lots of Ticks witch I did not see the first time. I am not sure if it is because the many changes we are going through at home (new in-home program, etc.) He seems fine with all that is going on. I am just not sure what to make of this. Any thoughts would be great.
Guest guest
Hi - Sorry I jumped to conclusions - you surely won't get chewed like I did since you had a good reason! lol. I had simply dropped the ball 'cause I was sick and couldn't hold a thought in my head for even two seconds - it was crazy-wierd. Of course, once my tail-chewing was over and Dr G asked me why the heck I had done that in the first place, I explained what was going on & he gave me instructions that ended up helping me get a lot better, so it was worth it in the long run. lol. With you son developing tics, I would be suspicious that you have a bacterial issue going on that is more related to this - despite the timing on the antiviral thing. It is totally possible that the Valtrex is triggering this, but just as possible that something bacterial is - like strep or mycoplasma. Reason I say this is just my own (possibly warped) kind of logic, so don't take it as a scientific fact by ANY means: if a virus had a few days to pull a shift on the immune system, then a lurking bacteria (strep, staph, etc is commonly hanging around without always causing infection) may have had a chance to multiply and start triggering some symptoms. And there's always that annoying factor of coincidence, too, that you catch an infection just at the exact time that another change happens. Happens to us often enough. I do think, though, others have had tics w/antivirals but I would simply call into Dr G's office and ask to get a call back on this one. I wouldn't stop the med unless they say so, though, as I doubt that there's much risk involved here of a long-term damage issue... HTH - please let us know what they say. --- dazseaton@... wrote: > When I ran out this time the pharmacy had to order > it. So that is why he I > did not have it for 5 days. Guest guest
, When I first took my son to Dr. G last October, my son was doing a lot of drooling (odd for a 3 y.o.). I hadn't noticed when the drooling started, but it was noticeable, and his ped didn't know why he was doing it. A few weeks into Valtrex, he stopped drooling and hasn't started again.
