Help me to understand what someone wrote: "Valtrex only treats herpes, and chickenpox-" SO everyone using VALTREX is looking to eliminate these specific viruses only ? Because I thought it was used to treat a multitude of viral infections, not just these two. My child never had herpes, so why would I give him this? I am sooo confused right now.

Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.

Valtrex is an antiviral that works for viruses including several in the herpes

class. If you

include all herpes viruses many believe that just about every child has some

type. Plus

Valtrex seems to improve methylation in some children possibly by modulating

adenosine.

My son never tested positive for any herpes virus and he recovered using this

combination

therapy.

Additionally, blocking purine metabolism, which is one way Valtrex works, can

slow

replication of many viruses beyond herpes.

Don't be scared off by folks thinking its just about herpes.

ok I have to ask this as I rushed my daughter to the ER last night for a 104.5 fever, she has a rash all over her girl parts below and low and behold it's herpies......wouldn't this be the STD kind> how does a 3 year old get this??? I have never had even a cold soar and no one we know is broken out, the only thing I can think of is we just a new batch of LDN after having about 5 days break and I started both the kids back on it, could we be stirring a laten virus, or could my son who ISN"T showing symptoms being shedding it, they have shared a bath.....do I need to take percausions with my 6 month old. she was put on alvacor???? something like that?
