I am new to the group, but I wanted to respond to this question. My son is 11 1/2. We have done a tremendous amount of therapy with him, and I feel the most beneficial for language has been using "fish oils".

At the time we also used Nordic Naturals ( I still continue to use them), and we used a 6:1 ratio. I hope this helps!

Omega's for autism/apraxia

I am going to be starting my son back on "fish oils" and also vitamin E to see if I get any progress with his apraxia. (Got this tip from an apraxia children's board many of you may already be familiar with.) Yesterday, I ordered some natural liquid E and also some Nordic Naturals Omega 3,6,9.Today, a new member named Vivene posted a link to an omega oil called www.omega-cure.com. I've visited the site and it really has some great info. on it regarding use of omegas and even autism. It's a great site if you haven't seen it yet. (Product is expensive tho.) Thing is, I just ordered some Omega 3,6,9 but this omega-cure site talks about having too much Omega 6 in our diets and the need to have more Omega 3s on board to balance it out. What are you all giving to your kids as far as Omega oils go? What have your DAN dr.s recommended in so far as Omega 3 vs. 6 and 9? It's hard to know which oil is the right one. Also, how much are you giving? The omega-cure sight is recommending at least 3 tsp. per day for kids on the spectrum.

That's great! How long did it take for you to notice he was vocalizing more once you started the oils? Thanks.

My son was omega 6 deficient too. Adding borage and sunflower oils have been great for us. He is now vocalizing again, and sleeping at night!
