no problems ever, Dr G's Rx's are accepted by our state's medicaid. I don't pay

anything for my one son's medication, he officially with the state has a

diagnosis of autism. The same is true for all of the labs. The hospital accepts

all of Dr G's lab requests, and my son's medicaid pays 100% of all lab costs.

I guess I am fortunate that the regular pediatrician also accepts medicaid for

my son's office visits. He is also well aware of Dr G's care of my son, and has

read all of his papers on . He is even willing to write Rx's for us if we

need refills and can't get through to Dr G's office. (I have to bring copies of

recent bloodwork though)

We are out of state, and like most medicaid insurance, it is not portable

across state lines for regular medical care, since Medicaid is a State funded

insurance unlike Medicare which is Federal. Dr G can't accept anything but

California Medicaid, (I am not sure if he does or not) The only exception where

our son's Medicaid pays out of state is for emergency room visits or pharmacy

refills if you are travelling outside of your home state on vacation, etc.

I have a question for those of you who have Medicaid pay for your

child's

prescriptions. Do they have to be ordered by a Medicaid-accepting doctor?

Does Dr. G accept Medicaid?

There's been a lot of discussion on another list I'm on about

non-Medicaid-accepting doctors hearing that a patient has Medicaid and then

refusing to treat

the patient anymore. I'd like to see if I can get some of the meds paid

for by Medicaid but since the doc that prescribes my son's meds doesn't

accept Medicaid, I don't want to risk having him refuse to treat my son. Any

experience in using private insurance to pay a doc to monitor the child and

prescribe but then having Medicaid pay for the rx?

I know that state medicaid will cover expenses out of state if you can prove

that the care is not available in your state and it is a covered expense so

basically you have to prove that your child can not get the care in your state

and in some specialties that should not be so tough. Sheri
