Guest guest
There is no reason for a doctor to drop a pt w/Medicaid anymore - they can simply choose not to accept it. The parent would still have to pay the office visit copay. Not all offices may be aware of this change in Medicaid policy (it's been a few years) but the parents could call Medicaid and confirm this (I've billed w/Medicaid of AL and it could possibly be different elsewhere although I doubt it) and then advise the doctor's office. Doctors now have a right to pick and choose whether they want to accept Medicaid from a patient. They can literally accept it on a few patients and not the rest. Medicaid had too much trouble w/providers not accepting Medicaid when they were required to do all or none, so they changed their rule to allow docs to accept only as many Medicaid patients as they wish. I confirmed this with Medicaid in AL last year when we wanted to accept a few Medicaid patients who were very indigent but not become known as " medicaid providers " . Someone else said that Dr G's orders were accepted by their Medicaid (of course only if filled in the state where you live-it won't pay out of state pharmacies as far as I know). Good luck... best thing to do is ask the Medicaid in your state. HTH- --- Googahly@... wrote: > I have a question for those of you who have Medicaid > pay for your child's > prescriptions.
