Hi All,

My son who is 7yo & about 48 lbs starts to take Valtrex + Nizoral

(generic) since 16 Jan. He is GFCF since early 2005.

His current dosage of Valtrex is 1250mg (split in 3 times : 500mg,

250mg then 500mg) & Nizoral at 100mg (taken 1 time in am).

After 3 weeks on Nizoral, on 7 Feb switched to Diflucan at 50mg. On 14

Feb (after about a week on Diflucan & 4 weeks on Valtrex), he became

very mad 10 mins after Diflucan + Valtrex. He threw up everything on

table, pull down chair & hit his granny while I was working in office.

Granny was so frighten.

Follow this incident, on 16 Feb switched back to Nizoral. To me Nizoral

seems work better. However about less than a week after resume Nizoral,

on 2 Mar at 4 am, he wake up & behaved madly (hit me & knocked his head

on floor). Gave him 100 mg Nizoral & he was back to normal in just few

mins & went back to sleep. On 4 Mar while in school, he hit his

classmate & bite his bowl, spoon etc.

Before Valtrex, he is a good kid without any bad behaviour.

My questions :

(1) Is it okay if I increase the Nizoral to 200mg (split in 2x) & give

this in long term.

(2) Nizoral seems work for him but when should I do rotation with other

anti-fungal.

(3) I guess I should proceed Valtrex even with those bad behaviour

encountered.

(4) should I try Diflucan again & increase the dosage from 50mg to

100mg.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

xl_mum
