Guest guest
Elly, too much steroid shots is not a good thing if you can function at all without it, it does do damage to the joints but as well so does years of being on Prednisone. Horrah!!!! for your good news I will celebrate for you k? I would think to just be careful as to how many injections you do get. And yes, sometimes joint replacements are necessary but when that time comes have a good surgeon tell you wheather or not it's time. My rheumy always sends me to a surgeon when he thinks there may be something they can do. But, in the meantime, Yippie Skippie but be careful with the pneumonia. Guest guest
Elly, I am so glad to hear you are off the prednisone. But I can tell you that the shots are not pleasant at times. I do not have answer for you in the way I do not think any of us know what to totally expect. Danni ________________________________________________________________________ Check out the new AOL. Guest guest
Elly, Wonderful news about the Pred! I have always celebrated every time I've been able to get off of it. I have never heard that injections for your joints were " a natural progression " for Still's. Do you have severe joint damage? Myself, I wouldn't do it unless the damage was there & the pain intolerable. Not understanding your situation fully, however, that's just my own opinion. Don't let it get you down, take every small victory you can! (Actually, getting off Pred is a BIG victory!) Feel better, Gail " eandbc2@... Guest guest
thanks to everyone who answered my mail.in answer to you gail,my joints are bad now,i have been getting injections in my left hip for some time now,but now it's my right one too.my shoulders are awful and my hands too.i have heard that the shots eventually wear down the joints and replacement will be needed!i am not there yet,but i am not young any more,so i don't recover as fast as i once did.keep your fingers crossed that that wont be necessary for a long time.i am thrilled to be off pred.i wasn't sure that day would ever get here.yea! love elly
