Guest guest
Yikes! It wasn't me, but I was thinking of using veggie juice and fruit juice for a fast. I'm a bit scared to just use apple juice, since I once had to have an ultra-sound on my stomach and was told to drink a quart (or was it a gallon?) of liquid or juice. Stupid me bought apple juice and enjoyed guzzling it - until I ended up with most awful stomach pains.......... Would V8 or canned tomato juice be ok? I've tried blending tomatoes and straining the juice, but what I got was very watery, and not very tasty :-( I still have a lot of tomatoes in the garden if anyone has suggestions..... and the K9'sThe post was just the other day... and I don't remember who said they had gotten fruits and veggies to do a 3 - day fast... I meant to write then and got interrupted... However... I wanted to say , don't mix the fruits and veggies either do veggies or do fruits... Guest guest
Well, V8 - is better than any concentrate..and truthfully (without reading the label) I would think much better than any bottle stuff (unless organic).. I can't remember reading the can on this... but certainly would not hurt... and since it is liquid also... should be okay. If I recall it contains a mix of tomatoes, carrots, celery, beets, parsley, lettuce, and spinach, I think. But i'd say go for it... it won't hurt you. I like apples and carrots juiced together.. Now , have you ever juiced fresh apples??? There is NO comparison to what you get in the store and what you make.... 2 really different tastes. unless you can get a pure unprocessed apple juice. Guest guest
You'll be okay as long as the can juice is not frozen concentrate... also just read that tomato and oj should not be used on a fast... so it's a good thing you didn't see my post.. I did not know that... probably has something to do with acidity.. I''ll post tomorrow some interesting finds.... I'm not sure why you should not mix your veggies and fruits on a fast... may have something (I think) with the body working on digestion... as fruits digest quicker and different than veggies... may confuse your system... but Don will have a good answer tomorrow. Once you juice your own apples you will never want to drink the other again...lol Suzi Pugh <gramlin@...> wrote: Hi Suzi, I've just been shopping and it's difficult to find "organic" and "unfiltered" anything around here (but I probably looked in the wrong places :-() Anyway, I bought some prune juice in a bottle, some fresh-pressed pasturized apple cider, and some cans of apple juice made from concentrate. It doesn't sound good, does it? However, I think I'll try the 3-day mucousless diet that you posted - just for the heck of it! I guess anything bought in a can is going to be heat-treated. It's surprising that the cider is pasturized. It came in a plastic jug, has floaters in it, and says it has to be refrigerated once opened. If I'd read your post before shopping, I'd have picked up some V8 instead.... Would it be ok to do fruits one day and veggies the next? I don't understand why we shouldn't mix the two..... I'm hoping to go apple picking, and I'll try juicing my own apples when I have some :-) Cheers, and the K9's Well, V8 - is better than any concentrate..and truthfully (without reading the label) I would think much better than any bottle stuff (unless organic).. Guest guest
Suzi, Thanks for all the great info on fasting/cleansing. I'll try to eat raw (and no meat) for two days, as recommended and then I'll start on the fast! Cheers, and the K9's

They put way too much salt in there, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy toooooooooooo much salt. When it comes to vegetable juices you are much better off juicing your own. Most any store bought has too much salt in it. You don't want or need that much salt while trying to do a cleanse. It will only hamper your efforts. Do read the labels if it has added salt or preservatives then don't use it. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. The V-8 is not a good choice either because they add way too much salt into it. When doing the cleanse you want to stay with the same fruit or veggie throughout the cleanse. The reason for this is because it takes time for any particular juice to do what you wish it to do. Apples and carrots cleanse the blood but will take several days to do that. Mixing juices from one day to the next doesn't really serve a purpose because then you body cannot detox properly. Every juice is different in how it works and its affects on the body. You also should never mix the two together as the fruits are too acidic and sugary and the veggies are just the opposite. This would effectively cancel out the cleansing properties of both. Apples and, as I recall, tomatoes are the only fruits that can be mixed with veggies. Never mix melons with anything but other melons. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. I don't see any reason why one cannot drink herb teas during an extended cleanse. For a short 3 day one, such as Dr. 's, well you won't have much time for drinking herb teas. However, nothing is carved in stone. I would think that maybe after the day of drinking all that water and juice you could settle down to a nice cup of something herbish. Usually though, a lot of cleanses have been experimented with by the creator of the cleanse and they have made their decision that their cleanse works much better by following their guidelines to a 'T " . But, hey, there aren't any cleansing cops yet so enjoy your cleanse and most of all enjoy the spiritualness of it and allow it to fill you totally as it cleanses your physical body. Peace be with you . -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man.
