IVIG, immune booster, SCD diet

Hi all,

Just wondering what thoughts are on IVIG or what Dr G's thoughts are

on this....

Also is there another immune booster that is given besides doing the

course of anti viral, anti fungal and SSRI...by Dr Goldberg?

Does anyone here do the SCD diet?

We have never tried it, but Dr G. once considered using IMGG with our

son, whicH I believe is given in the muscle instead the vein. He told

us he would only do this if the HHV6 would not come under control.

Hi Kristie,

I tried the SCD diet, and my picky eater would not eat anything on it ;-( I

gave up after a week.

Hi Aidan -

It would be very very rare for Dr G to recommend IVIG

- he has a strong preference to using IMGG when

indicated, and only when there is a specific reason to

do so - he does not use it in all kids. We almost

used it in one of my sons who was having chronic

infections and low IgG, but never discussed it in

regards to his brother - who also had low IgG but

didn't have some other indications for needing it (no

I can't tell you what that was, though lol). He does

not generally use IVIG for several reasons - only the

same reasons your typical immunologist at a Children's

Hospital would use it for ... and not for PANDAS

either.

You have to be careful in using immune 'boosters' in

. You can frequently be boosting the wrong immune

responses. The goal in seems to be addressing

the infections (especially viral, which can have a

significant effect on reducing immunity) to allow the

immune system to recover.

In the past, he loved Kutapressin, a powerful immune

modulator and antiviral. It went out of production,

has been re-released as Nexavir, but Dr G has some

problems with the new version and will not use it (at

least not any time soon) - I couldn't break down the

reasons, though, but I think he's mentioned the

possible risk of prions... (think spongiform

encephalitis)...
