Dear Ann,

I did not have any allergies in particular until I got Lyme disease 24 years

ago. Since then I have developed severe chemical and food sensitivities.

I believe it is because the immune system is trying to fight off a chronic

infection and then over-reacts to lots of things. From memory I think The

New Arthritis Breakthrough explains this.

Professor Garth Nicolson has some good articles about this. He found that

many of his MCS patients recovered after long courses of anti-biotics.

Rosemary.

Hi all,

My little boy has been suffering with allergies for the past month or so and

they're getting worse by the day.

He's currently on Zyrtec but this makes him really grouchy and it doesn't

seem to help with his itchy nose and eyes.

The ENT gave him a Rx. today to try Nasonex and told me to stop the Zyrtec

?? I'm hesitant to use a steriod nasal spray due to the immune system

problems.

I'm wondering what has worked for your children and if anyone has used

Allegra successfully ?

Thanks and take care,

My son also suffers from seasonal allergies. We've tried Claritin,

Allegra, Zyrtec and they all helped a little in the beginning and

then they wouldn't work anymore, Zyrtec kept him up for hours at

night. We recently started Chloraphenaramine OTC and he is on

Nasacort AQ.

I am interested in knowing more about the herbal meds you are

trying. Any info would be appreciated.

Yes.

Steroid nasal sprays are fine....Rhinocort, Flonase, Nasonex, and I

even think Nasalchrom is a steroid nasal spray.

I find it odd stopping Zyrtec, but if it had bad effects then OK.

Instead of an oral antihistamine, we use Astelin....it is a

antihistamine spayed in the nose. It is a safer alternative (less

invasive to the body) than oral antihistamines.

I don't think Nasalchrom is a steroidal spray. I think it's more like

Astelin, only in an over-the-counter version.

Thanks for the info . One question: Do you use this year

round, or does it lose its effectiveness? Do you use

just " seasonally " ?

Thanks
