Guest guest
Sheri, Please make sure it isn¹t a bladder infection... sometimes the only sign is urgent urination (no pain). Maybe it¹s not that, but if it is it could lead to long term problems if not treated. She had a die off rash about 2 weeks ago. Now she is peeing often and sometimes not making it to the bathroom. I am really upset about this. At first it was only happening at school so I thought that the change could be to blame but now I wonder if there is more too it. She has wet herself more this past two weeks than she has in the past 10 months. What are the estimates as to how long a die off lasts? Her behavior improved once the sores were gone and so I stopped giving her Tylenol. Maybe I shouldn't have stopped. Sheri
Guest guest
I suppose that the only way to test this is to cath her, right? She is going to go ape if we have to do that. Guest guest
Sheri, Would she go in a urine collection cup? Or if not you could get what they call a ³hat² to put on the potty... it just collects the urine when they go... it sits on the toilet like an upside down brimmed hat. You might be able to use it at home and then rush it over to the doctor/lab when she went. Or you might be able to use one of those little bags that stick on (they have them at the hospital lab)... I¹m not sure if that can be done on little girls... we¹ve done it with little boys but since their machinery is different, it is an easier maneuver. I guess all you can do is ask. Maybe there¹s some technique I don¹t know about. I would try to avoid a catheter if at all possible... Guest guest
If I am not mistaken it has to be a clean catch sample and that would be impossible unless she has a catheter inserted. I had to take in to the doctor once at the instance of her preschool to have her looked at because they thought that she had a UTI but her ped didn't think that she did and said that unless she had more symptoms she would not put her though the test. She said to watch for a fever. Well has never had a fever. She has never had a cold so I am not sure that would be an indicator. I had thought that it was due to being in school for the first time but since I am noticing that he has to go a lot more often at home and she is now not making it at home either, I have to wonder.
