Guest guest
You can use regular kefir starter to make coconut kefir. I found the freeze dried stuff in the cooler at our local health food store. Kefir hobbyists say this isn't much better than buttermilk though. I recently purchased some japanese water kefir grains from a hobbyist on ebay and had it shipped up from the US. There are some listings for kefir grains, rather than starter. We're pretty happy with the water kefir, my boys wouldn't take the coconut. This goes in their juice without a fight. Kes > > Hi group- > Read about coconut kefir on this site and we have to try it. Guest guest
Get it sent to a PO Box close to the border...? putting it into a well washed wide mouth Kid'z Yogurt jar if necessary to bring it back. ¡)(¡Time to roast that Bull !Hi group-Read about coconut kefir on this site and we have to try it. We areabout 85 % recovered and I think this might be the last missing pieceof the puzzle for our . The company told me they dont shipstarter to Canada and gave the numbers of the Canadian distributorswho neither one have it in stock due to the new Health Canada bull. Anyone been able to find it in Canada? Thanks Val
Guest guest
Good point Kes, we just started water kefir grains a few months back and I love them! If one is able I would strongly advise using both. The point of yck is that along with benefical bac you are getting the amazing benefits from the coconut. The water grains do offer bacteria, but not as many properties as coconut. > > > > Hi group- > > Read about coconut kefir on this site and we have to try it. Guest guest
Well my coconut kefir is done and I'm not sure I did it correctly. How can I tell if it is what it is supposed to be? It smells yucky in the jar, coconutty but sour too. Tastes kind of sour/vinegary but still can get the mild coconut flavor. It is a cloudy light white color, kinda like soapy water. No fizz it whatsoever. Isn't it supposed to be fizzy/carbonated a bit? Re: Coconut kefir in Canada We use coconut oil whenever and wherever we can for the omegas and theantiviral properties. I can't get my kids to eat coconut. I just hopethe oil is enough :)Kes> > >> > > Hi group-> > > Read about coconut kefir on this site and we have to try it. Guest guest
What you described sounds right. Shouldn't taste sweet, vinegar too much. Somewhere in the middle. > > > > > > > > Hi group- > > > > Read about coconut kefir on this site and we have to try it.
