Guest guest
Nadine: Hi . I also had hair loss. Had a full head of hair tell the pred. then by by. My father at 75 had thin hair but a full head. Now do not get me wrong it could have also been male baldness but boy o boy it did start to come out then and even after not being on it for over three years it still is. But this is not the case for every one as bad as mine is that is. Some just loses some not all. It is not fair my step sons are always saying " shine your head for a buck " dang inflation; it used to be a quarter! But as they say for men at lest. If you're losing it in front you're a thinker. In the back you're a lover. If they run together then you just think you're a lover. For me I am a thinker and a lover as I have a patch still left between LOL Hugs all Marty. The redneck dragon fighter still looking for a dragon pooper scooper any one seen on as I need a pick me upper and right now I am the dragon poop hair loss Hi I just feel like writing to you guys and asking if anyone has any problems with hair loss. I know pred makes your hair thin out but Im only on 5mg of pred every other day. For the past 2 weeks everytime i wash or brush my hair huge clumps come out, although I have no bald patches. I used to have lovely shiny hair now its limp and i hate it. Im on no other meds. Just feel like crying every day. Even when i run my fingers through my hair lots comes out in my fingers. Guest guest
Nadine, I have also experience hair loss. Mine seems brittle now. I'm not on pred any more but I am on MTX & that causes hair loss. I do take a vitimin that is for hair & nails. I think it helps some. It is upsetting to have your hair falling it's just one more thing to add to the list! Guest guest
I had hair loss when I started the methotrexate. It lasted about 6 months. I had extra thick hair, so the thinning was actually kind of nice. It never got " too " thin. When my hair grew back it grew back extemely curly. I ahd always had a little wave in my hair, but never really curly. Then I was taken off Methotrexate and Kineret for about 2 months while my liver enzymes evened out. A month ago my hair lost all of it's curl and is now straight as a board. My hair stylist, jokes about never knowing how to style my hair from month to month. Now I'm going to be starting a new medication Rituxan. I find it absolutly amazing how our medications effect our hair. My opinion was if I lost all my hair I could either wear adorable scarves on my head, and use them to accesserize my outfits, or I could get a wig and have any hairstyle I wanted that I could never do with my own hair. For those loosing thier hair, It can be scary, but try to find something good about it. For example: If you are person who hated having to fuss with your hair, you no longer have to worry about fussing with it. That was the advice given to me by a former student who had cancer and lost her hair when she did her chemo. Take care, --------------------------------- Talk is cheap. Use Yahoo! Guest guest
I had hair loss after being on Arava, which I had to stop because of bone marrow suppression. When I started on methotrexate, and my hair grew back it went from stick straight to curly as well.As a child I had always wanted curly hair. And now as a 35 year old woman,I have it. All my family were pretty amused by it.It even grew back a lighter blonde. My hairstylist told me that a product call Nioxin helps with hair loss.I haven't tried it yet,but am looking for it.
