Guest guest
I am curious where the idea of making a tincture on the new moon comes from, and what evidence there is to support the idea. I try to make mine on the new moon and strain on the full moon when possible. Here is a link explaining why. I believe some farmers also use the moon phases for planting and reaping. Traditional herbalists claim following this guideline makes a more potent tincture. Harvesting Herbs By Lunar Phases Gloria

Kolisko back in the twenties on Capillary Dynamolysis. She did some very interesting work on the effect of the sun and moon on plant saps etc. which actually proved the theory that the moon does affect the sap of plants and thus the strength of potions, lotions, tinctures, etc. There really is some quite informative reading on this if you are willing to delve into it and see. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man. Your menstrum, in your tincture, is a liquid. It will be affected by the gravitational pull of the moon and sun just like every cell in your body is affected due to the water content within each cell. No, I have no scientific research papers bearing this out. I have no doubt that they exist, I just haven't run across them yet. However, for as long as man has been using herbs and tincturing them he has gone by the moon phases for whatever his reason were. Every philosopher, mystic, witch, alchemist, etc have gone by this schedule of tincturing by the moon phases, and all of them have sworn that the tinctures made this way are much more potent. No different than old time farmers planting according to the moon. The moon has a very definite effect on your herbal tinctures. Of this I am positive. When I obtain cold hard scientific proof of this I will be more than happy to pass this along to anyone interested. -- Peace, love and light, Don Quai " Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man.
