Guest guest
How is your boy doing now. I will pray for him and your family. your friend, Kristy Nardini <krnardini@...> wrote: Hi, My 4 y.o. son is very sick, and I'm very scared. It started in mid-August with a cold, runny nose and coughing. It cleared up, but that week we had a follow-up with his ENT (he's had chronic ear infections since he was 18 months), and he had fluid in his right ear (the tube in that ear had very recently fallen out). Since he was scheduled for surgery on another part of his body, we decided he should get a new set of ear tubes at the same time. Surgery was on 9/1 and went EXTREMELY well. He was not sick going into surgery. Both surgeons said swimming was fine, and it was hot and my twins just learned to swim, so we went to our neighborhood pool two days after surgery. We put wax in my son's ears, but it did fall out during his swim, so we dried his ears and put " the drops " in and left the pool. Five days after surgery, his left ear started oozing. The next day the other ear started oozing. He was fussy, but still went to school and did his afternoon sessions. We used Floxin drops in his ears, but nothing else. A week later, it was getting worse, so the ENT cultured his ears and he had pseudomonas and the ENT px'd Omnicef (high dose for 5 days) and Ceprodex. His ears cleared up. One afternoon that week, he had a fever, then vomited ~midnight that night. I kept him home from school the next day, but he seemed perfectly fine. Seven days after finishing the Omnicef, he vomited once, then had several bouts of diarrhea, which was this past Monday. He is still having diarrhea at least once/day since. He is very lethargic (napping 3 hours each afternoon, plus asleep from 7-7). Very small appetite. We did see Dr. G this week and his bloodwork all came back normal. He is drinking liquids. He has not been to school all this week. He is not himself, very quiet, pale, whimpering at times. No fever at all this week, but he feels hot when I hold him. He was already thin, but he looks really thin now. He seems really vacant, too. Any ideas??? What might be going on and how I can help him? Guest guest
Hi , Thank you so much for your prayers. He is doing MUCH better, KOW. Maybe even a little better, in some areas? Amazing eye contact and language today. The last several days were so awful and scary...he had some major setbacks, esp. in pottying (but no accidents today for the first time in many days, Woohoo!). I'm keeping my faith, but it's definitely challenging ;-) His twin sis threw up on me tonight ;-( Kristy Re: Very sick little boy- How is your boy doing now.
