Guest guest
Our son Matt, 2.5, has met all his one year goals recently...in under four months, and we are beginning Pivotal Response Training/ABA soon instead of just Floortime/Speech/OT. So he went from Nonverbal and often soned out and self absorbed and drooling to happy, engaged, some spontaneous language, several words, mimicry, some joint attention, crossing the midline again, and a bit of imaginative play....so far, and the gains they keep a'coming. We followed Stan's advice/approach, but not his diet exactly. Diet is very unique to each child's needs and must be based upon their IgE andIGG test results. We gave advice three months back to a newbie family, just diagnosed, based on what we learned from out experiences....and just found out that their little boy is doing GREAT too, so it not just us....in fact their son is doing a little better than Matt, faster, as they leraned from our mistakes, and were actually able to implement the SCD the way it is designed to be done in stages. So their child's gut is healing faster and better than Matt's as we are only able to get SCD legal foods into him and a very very limited variety unfortunately..however even on a diet of just chicken drumsticks, my gut healing recipe, raosted in the oven, granny smith apples cored peeled, and no more than two a day, homemade goat's milk yogurt, and spinach/pear/ apple juice fresh squeezed...my son has put on three pounds in the last four months. Crazy, I know. My son used to shudder physically if meat was offered....you should see him tear into a drumstick these days. He eats three or four at a sitting. I will e mail yo the recipe if interested. Our DAN says that is a sign the gut is healing. We will use ABA type strategies to get more foods on board - spec veggies, and then hopefully see even more healing. The intro stages of the SCD made him hungry enough and healed enough to eat chicken, so avail yourself of the Pecanbread folks and try to do the diet in stages as designed minus food issues foods....that is the fsatest road to BIG gains and less suffering for your kiddo. So, for what it is worth. HEAL AND SEAL THE GUT. HEAL AND SEAL THE GUT. HEAL AND SEAL THE GUT. Watch the tongue, the belly, and all stools....let this guide your strategies. HIGH DOSE PROBIOTICS from Custom Probiotics or other brand...but in large enough quantities to push out all the bad guys and reseed the gut with good flora. If you cannot do SCD then just alter the diet, at least temporarily, eliminating, milk/casein, wheat/gluten, ALL grains, starches, c carbs, and SUGAR in all its various forms. Use only honey....and very very little of that. I use it only in their Vitamix veggie ice cream...which sounds gross but is great. We did Diflucan and Valtrex then switched to Nizoral on board. Our vits and supps are from Pfeiffer Treatment Center which is an $$$ way to go, but they are compounded and made for Matt based on his bloodwork...however since we often wonder how much he absorbs on his injured gut, this is the part of what we are doing I would cut if I had to cut anything, and just get the basics covered, ZINC, CLO, MB12 nasal spray and shots...custom vitamins once the gut is in better shape. We used the strategies in Overcoming Autism, the book, to get language and words...it took two dauys of total hell, and then DAMN IT, Matt spoke... " ma " for more. We just carried on using their strategies and we are up to 15 words now and even more imitation and other communication gains....WE DID THIS. NOT A SPEECH THERAPIST and despite the fact that eveyone was preoccupied with teaching himsigning etc...thank god for that book. It works. It sucks, andyou have to want it bad, but it works.... We are using the Engaging Autism book and Floortime to get the relationship thing going appropriately and Matt is almost like a normal 15-18 month old now in many ways.....YOU ARE THE BIGGEST INTERVENTION and the best therapist expert on your kiddo. get in there and get going...Gut/DIET, antivirals and antifungals - RXs first, not naturals at first, PROBIOTICS, and very hands on therapies done by YOU and the family....not others...go into his world, and then bring him out into yours. It is possible. Good luck and God bless your efforts. E mail me anytime....Diane mum to Terra Beth 4, watched for ADHD - TOTALLY RECOVERED. Matt 2.5, ASD...on his way to recovery, and baby Emma big slump and yeast issues after last vaccination - stopped all vaccines, put her on special diet and probiotics, perfect now and developing normally with excellent health.....
