Guest guest
...our Matt cannot blow bubbles yet, smile on command - more a receptive language issue we think as he just doe3sn't understand the request- or do any of the other things you sited....we have about twenty word/word approximations...and he will say most things or make a version of most things people try....it has all happened in the last two months or so and at the moment he is not on CLO or any other oils...so I am interested to see if he will be a big responder to them if they work for your kiddo. We have gotten all our language gains so far using the simple, but painful and tedious, strategies in Overcoming Autism. If you can get services for your child try and find Pivotal Response trained ABA folks...the things you sited are not prerequisite for getting spoken communication on board or Matt would not be talking....good luck. Guest guest
My son was diagnosed as apraxic - fish oil and vitamin E erased these symptoms. > > ...our Matt cannot blow bubbles yet, smile on command - more a > receptive language issue we think as he just doe3sn't understand the > request- or do any of the other things you sited....we have about > twenty word/word approximations...and he will say most things or make a > version of most things people try....it has all happened in the last > two months or so and at the moment he is not on CLO or any other > oils...so I am interested to see if he will be a big responder to them > if they work for your kiddo. > > We have gotten all our language gains so far using the simple, but > painful and tedious, strategies in Overcoming Autism. Guest guest
We have had TONS of service for Tommy for the past 3 1/2 years. TONS, like over 30 hours a week. No one can break thru the language barrier with him. ...we were told Matt was "probably apraxic sa well...." ...our Matt cannot blow bubbles yet, smile on command - more a receptive language issue we think as he just doe3sn't understand the request- or do any of the other things you sited....we have about twenty word/word approximations...and he will say most things or make a version of most things people try....it has all happened in the last two months or so and at the moment he is not on CLO or any other oils...so I am interested to see if he will be a big responder to them if they work for your kiddo. We have gotten all our language gains so far using the simple, but painful and tedious, strategies in Overcoming Autism. Guest guest
Actually Matt isn't on either yet we are just researching those options now...we got the language gains strictly by using the Overcoming autism strategy for getting Mo - more - onboard and kept that with the hand sign for about three weeks and then began in earnest using the strategies to get labeling going...and there we remain, one word labels and imitating all word prompts with versions of the words or sounds....only more chicken and more tickle for two word phrases so far. There is spont. language though...he just came out of his room looking for Dad saying wawa....once you get those first words if you use PRT it really starts to go....NOW we are reseatching a biomed angle to help his brain have an easier time of it. Matt never learned to sign and struggles wsith midline issues and fine motor ones too...part of what drove us was we did not know how to do PECS and signing wsa not were we decided to put our energies....NO regrets...about four days to really really get the more on board withholding despite all tantrums etc. and little cycle of all behaviors to avoid vocalizing...hitting, kissing, laying down and moaning - almost funny if it were not so awful to go through...and then at the first mm PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE....and there you have it. Keep me posted as to all you learn re the oils etc...but go there with PRT believing your child CAN vocalize and MUST vocalize....in case of danger, in case of injury, the world at large does not understnd sign and often they do not even learn REAL signs..give it your ALL for vocalizations and words....Di > > > > ...our Matt cannot blow bubbles yet, smile on command - more a > > receptive language issue we think as he just doe3sn't understand the > > request- or do any of the other things you sited....we have about > > twenty word/word approximations...and he will say most things or make > a > > version of most things people try....it has all happened in the last > > two months or so and at the moment he is not on CLO or any other > > oils...so I am interested to see if he will be a big responder to > them > > if they work for your kiddo. > > > > We have gotten all our language gains so far using the simple, but > > painful and tedious, strategies in Overcoming Autism.
