Hi Lynn,

Sorry to hear about your plight here. Sounds like you are handling it

alright and that is an interesting blend you made up. I do believe that

you should leave the Eucalyptus out though as it is fairly high in

tannins and they will cause one to experience heartburn. Better to just

crush them up into a pot of boiling water and cover your head with a

towel and breathe in the vapors. Then drink the other ingredients in

your tea.

It is good that you did what you did though. Helped with the asthma

rather effectively. Don't overdo the licorice and elecampane though.

Licorice can cause potassium depletion and too much Elecampane can cause

vomiting and diarrhea. Just be wary is all I am saying. You most likely

are alright but at least now you may know something you didn't before. ;-)

I sure hope you get feeling better. Don't forget to get some echinacea

and lobelia too.

Peace be with you Lynn.

HI Don

Thanks so much for the information. Noooow I know where that heart burn is coming from. I'll leave the eucalyptus out for the next batch. I had thought of lobilia but I didn't have any on hand. I didn't mention that I had been sneezing and had a runny nose along with the lung problems. I have a facial steamer that I added lavender EO, tee tree EO, and eucalyptus EO to and just inhaled. Oh boy, did that help. Right now I'm starting to feel much better. I have been drinking a lot of echinacea tea as well. I take the echinacea tincture with the total tonic in the morning, on two weeks and off three weeks through the fall and winter months. Thanks again Don. You're a hunny bunny.

Many Blessings

Lynn

It really is up to you how often and how much you wish to take. It is a

wonderful preventative and most people take a tablespoonful per day.

Some like and I, who just like eating hot things, might indulge

ourselves and go for a small cup mornings and evenings.

Lynn it is most likely the eucalyptus, try a little peppermint instead and see if that helps.

Subject: Tea question

Hi everyone

I have had some trouble with a nasty cough lately. No fever. I think I caught something from a friend about 2 weeks ago. Also, I have asthma. I have no total tonic left and I will be making some next week when I go shopping. Even that will take about 2 weeks to complete. So, I made a tea out of equal parts eucalyptus leaf, licorice root, slippery elm bark, elecampane root, some lemon peel and stevia to sweeten a bit. It seems to be helping but I must say, I seem to get a heart burn after about 2 cups of this stuff. I think I would need about 3 to 4 cups a day. It feels awful. My cough is better than it was and I'm bringing up some phelm and I don't feel the soreness in my chest anymore. Deep breathing is much easier now. No wheezing anymore. Is there anything I can do for the heart burn that any of you know of or what, if any, of these herbs could be causing it? Thanks a bunch.

Many Blessings

Lynn

Hi ,

That's not far off to what I am using, although I use slightly more

sugar.

I know we've been through the steeping question umpteen times, but

I still haven't come to a satisfying conclusion.

My normal procedure is to make the tea in a really large pot (I brew

about 20 litres a session) and leave it to stew/brew/steep often over night.

No bitterness, no problems.

Just to try things out I let the leaves steep just 5 mins for my

last 2 brews, just to see whether there really would be a difference

in taste. I couldn't detect any.

I am very generous with my tea, when it says 'teaspoon' I tend to use

a dessertspoon... but I am the same when I make coffee or tea for

drinking. Could it be that I have corrupted my tastebuds altogether? ;-)

Have fun!

Margret:-)
