Valtrex - Do you start at less then suggested dose?

Hi, We will be starting Valtrex on Tuesday. Our DAN's suggested dose for our 3 yr old son is 250 mg 3 times a day. We started the antifungal 2 weeks ago to prepare for Valtrex. What is the right way to start..... should we start off with just 250 mg once a day and build up from there day to day? Also our son will be starting Pre-K (full day) in a week so we need help with suggestions on how to successfully follow the Valtrex protocol while he is attending school? Thank you all very much.
