Doris,

We went to Universal on one trip. It was pretty good, but my kids liked

Disneyland better (one day was really enough in Universal, where they could

spend several in Disney). We also spent some time at the beach in Ventura,

which

is not a very long drive from the office and the kids enjoyed walking and

rollerblading (there is a walkway that is perfect for skates) along the beach.

The hotel was reasonable, so that was a little less expensive than spending

the whole time in Disney. There was also a pool overlooking the beach/ocean

that the kids enjoyed. Since we don't have beaches here, that alone was a

nice treat for my kids and I.

Just some ideas :-)

Disneyland, California Adventure @ Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm,

Universal Studios, Magic Mountain, the BEACH, Legoland heading

towards San Diego, the mountains (Big Bear), Museums (Museum of

Tolerance, Huntington Library, Children's one in Pasadena I

believe), Griffith Park (carosel there I believe), Planetorium ( I

forgot the real name..the place in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE), take a

drive to Santa Barbara (two hours north of LA, maybe even less),

Solvang is nearby and there is lots of Dutch things in this town.

Take a drive to San Diego, two hours south about.

Go to a ball game..Dodgers or Angels in Anaheim?

Hope this helps a bit. I live in Rancho Cucamonga which is about 30

minutes east of Pasadena and about an hour from Tarzana I think?

Right off the 210. I didn't know how old your child is so some

things suggested may have been inappropriate.

Hi Doris,

If you're going to UCLA to see Carmen, Cabrillo Beach is close by, they have

a museum. Or better yet, go on the web and do a search for Royal Palms

Beach Tide Pool, in San Pedro, CA. The tide pools are very nice, you can

pack a lunch and go for a pic-nic there too! We went to 's first

grade field trip there and all the kids had fun picking up and finding the

sea creatures like, sea stars, crabs, sea cucumbers and many more little

critters. Give us a call if you need help finding it. (310) 704-0704 (my

trip to Ca

We're heading west to see Dr Goldberg June 11-18

First stop is Mickey's crib - we're popping in to see Carmen for a brain

look-see

We had hoped to see Dr Suzi more but she will be out of town.

This leaves us with alot of room to 'to things'

Any suggestions from the locals?

websites I might want to visit?

Thanks!

Also -- The Aquarium of The Pacific (in Long Beach) has wonderful

exhibits and lots of interactive activities.

Someone mentioned a " children's " museum in Pasadena in an earlier

post, but couldn't remember the name. It's called Kidspace Museum,

and it's completely interactive. The Museum of Science and Industry,

Natural History Museum (dinosaurs skeletons and Ice Age animals),

Travel Town (for train enthusiasts/little kids), and the Autry Museum

of the American West are also good bets, depending on the age of the

child.

I believe it was a Holiday Inn. I looked it up online and I'm pretty sure

it was the one listed on Harbor Blvd. We paid less than $100.00 per night.

It wasn't super fancy, but nice and clean and the kids loved rollerblading in

the mornings. I don't think I can include links to the list, but I'll send

it to you offlist.

Barb,

It was a Holiday Inn I believe on Harbor Blvd in Ventura (not a bad drive

from the office). It was not super fancy, but clean and had a nice pool (we

had the whole pool to ourselves both times we've stayed). It's quiet and there

is a great place for the kids to rollerblade along the beach. It was less

than $100.00 per night at that time. I'm not much into shopping but there

were a lot of cute little shops if you like to look around. Here is the link:
