Guest guest
My son has been on Valtrex 500 mg twice daily. We are just starting to see some gains after about 5 weeks on it. I want to switch to acyclovir/Zovirax but my Dr. didn't know about it. Does anyone know what the equivalent dose would be? I don't want to lose the gains but need something that is easier to give (better tasting suspension) and doesn't have to be specially compounded. We are almost out so I need to have an answer soon. - Theresa > > > > > I would like to hear different experiences about HHV6 treatment > > > from listmates. > > > > > > There are alternative therapies and traditional therapies. Guest guest
We give acyclovir. It's a thick milky looking liquid. My son loves it. I would suggest that you and/or your doctor call your local pharmacist to find out the answers. Shouldn't your doctor do this for you? We give it to our son as follows: acyclovir 200 mg/5 ml susp ALP - one tsp, 2 x daily (if anything, this seems like a low dose compared to what some others on this board have mentioned) amantadine 50/mg/5 ml syrupmor - one and 1/2 tsps., 1 x daily He is 5 1/2 years old and about 50 lbs. Hope this helps. Re: HHV6 Therapy Success...Valtrex and acyclovir equivalent dosage My son has been on Valtrex 500 mg twice daily. We are just starting tosee some gains after about 5 weeks on it. Guest guest
Thanks Cheryl and , So it looks like I might need to double the mg compared to Valtrex and give 4-5 times per day. That will be alot but if he likes it it shouldn't be too bad. I'll see if the Dr. has any ideas. - Theresa > > > > > > > > > > > > > I would like to hear different experiences about HHV6 > > treatment > > > > > > > from listmates. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > There are alternative therapies and traditional therapies. > > > > Some of > > > > > > > the traditional therapies > > > > > > > have toxic profiles. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Obviously I have some ideas, but what has worked and not > > > > worked for > > > > > > > your HHV6 positive > > > > > > > child (if your child was positive of HHV6)? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > - Stan > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
