I'm wondering if any of you were on terbutaline when you were

pregnant with your ASD child (it is used to stop pre-term labor) - or

pregnant with any NT child.

I have a 9 y.o son with PDD and a 7 y.o NT son. I beleive the

vaccines (and whatever subsequent infections) caused my older boy's

autism.

I'm pregnant with twins. I really believed that if I kept their

immune systems healthy (no vaccines till they're older, breastfeed

for a year or two), that they'd be healthy NT kids.

I went into labor at 32 weeks, was given terbutaline sulfate (shot)

and magnesium sulfate (IV) to stop labor for 2 days while the steroid

(some other drug) for the babies' lungs took effect. Then I was sent

home. I went in again for pre-term labor a few days later and was

given another shot of terbutaline, then released and given a

prescription for oral terbutaline (2.5 mg tablets) and told to take

it any time I had 8 or more contractions per hour. I've taken one

pill roughly every 3 or 4 days, I think, for the last 3 weeks.

Then I got my sister's lap top (which I can use on bed rest), did

some research on it, and found out that it causes brain damage in

rats - specifically the hypothalamus and cerebellum (it was a study

out of Duke University, 2004). The hypothalamus is involved in

pretty much everything the brain does - I think memory, especially.

It is used off-label for preterm labor and has never been studied in

fetuses.

I asked the doctor about its safety when he first prescribed it and

he said it's been used for 15 years and is very, very safe. You

would think that by now I would have a healthier mistrust of

doctors..... In general, I do - I don't know what's wrong with me

now.

Can anyone tell me if this was a lot of terbutaline that I was on.

Does anyone have experience (ASD or NT kids) with this drug?

Thanks,

nne
