my assistant checks insurance coverage as part of the meet-n-greet. payer verification is very important, for both form and function; it helps to know if there may be any insurance issues, and to address and clarify them before the patient owes any money. patients appreciate that, they often don't know what their insurance covers, this helps them understand what is expected from them. wrt general financial policy, don't just hand someone a brochure or piece of paper; review the rules with them, out loud-- copays due at the time of service, bounced check fee, etc. it's a mark of professionalism, and reinforces to the patient that you're not some trust-funder doing this out of the goodness of your heart, rather that you do this for a living, and actually expect to get paid.look and act professional, guess what, people are more likely to treat you as one.LLKathy Saradarian wrote: You can certainly do this alone. I have no problem collecting co-pays but I don’t bother with deductibles as they are never that clear. I also don’t know why you feel the need to verify all insurances before seeing the patient. How many times have the patient’s lied to you so far? Maybe your demands are too much? Something to think about. I am at the end of my road and ready to quit. I cannot seem to find anyone reliable to collect copays, deductibles. Thinks I can see patients without staff. I will need someone to verify insurances though since I still accept insurances. Saw 13 patients today with the help of 2 employees and fired one at the end of the day. Please help! Delicious ideas to please the pickiest eaters. Watch the video on AOL Living.
