Guest guest
Carol, I'm interested too, though I don't know yet if I have a dyslexic child, only know about apraxia/SI. Never hurts to file some of this stuff away, though, just in case. It looked like the exercises are tailored for each person, not sure how they do that; do you have to go to a center and get your specific program designed for you? Did you see the 60 Minutes II segment? If not, see the website for a big part if not all of the story that aired last night: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/10/21/60II/main579220.shtml Also, you can get tapes or transcripts: (CBS) 60 Minutes II ADDRESS: 60 Minutes II 524 West 57th St. New York, NY 10019 PHONE: (212) 975-6200 E-MAIL: 60II@... TRANSCRIPTS: 1-800-777-TEXT VIDEOTAPES: 1-800-848-3256 > , > I am very interested in this. Could you tell me a little more about the exercises and what their purpose is? How long do they do the exercises and can you give me a few examples of an exercise? What is the theory or thought behind doing the exercises? In other words, what do they use to explain the success of their methods??? > Please either email me privately at kcholt11@n... or to the group if there are others interested. Thankyou so much. > Carol > >
Guest guest
Have any of you had experience using the Dore assessment/method to help with learning disabilities/dyspraxia/dyslexia/add/adhd? It sounded promising on the internet, and I believe I have heard of this program before in articles re. children who have been greatly helped. It involves doing certain exercises/juggling/balancing on balance beams/balancing on one foot, as certain things are learned. Any input you have to offer would be appreciated. I certainly do not want to get pulled into any other things which are of no benefit. Guest guest
DORE is decent until you consider the price tag. You can get the same benefits for a fraction of the cost by doing an at home brain gym program or haveing a Carrick graduate set up an at home OT/PT program that is neurologically based. - Barb Katsaros <barbkatsaros@...> wrote: Have any of you had experience using the Dore assessment/method to help with learning disabilities/dyspraxia/dyslexia/add/adhd?
