Dr. K's folk's outlined the reasons at the meeting people So get those labs done for them. It helps them get the DS approved for others. I WILL get mine in Dec when due again. I got caught up with my visit with Doc K yesterday,talking about other things, and forgot to ask what each of those terms and numbers meant,! what is the protime? My hemoglobin was 13.2 range is 13.5 - 17.5 my hematocrit was 40.2 range is 41.0 - 53.0 my calcium was 8.7 mg range is 8.4 - 10.2 Dr K said it was all good, but I just forgot to ask ! The reason it is listed as " low " is because we normally order it to evaluate how effective warfarin is in anticoaging your blood. Since you are not on warfarin, your number is probably normal, which to the lab is " low " . INR is the same thing using different units of measurement. 1.0 is normal, but to the lab 2.0 to 3.0 would be " normal " for certain medical conditions requiring anticoagulation. Sorry, probably TMI. Your hemoglobin and hematocrit go together. One is the absolute measurement and one is the percent (of hemoglobin in whole blood). Yours is insignificantly low for a man. Your calcium sounds good.
