Guest guest
Hi : I take it you've been following Stan Kurtz's story, and his website. The story of his son Ethan's recovery is so incredible! Just goes to show if you catch autism at onset, and you get your child into the right hands, you can have some really great results! The first thing you will need to do is pull off the lab test protocal off of Dr G's website and take it to your pediatrician. You will want to spend a few days (or at least a week) reading, (and re-reading ) all of the info on his website, regarding his presentations, he actually has brain scans for each case discussed. I am sure your pediatrician will absolutely love that! Once you get well aquainted with the background, you can bring in the list to your pediatrician and ask him to write up the request for the labs. The labs are important, because it will identify if there are any issues with the immune system. If your child's bloodwork shows for example hhv6, I am sure your Pediatrician will not have a problem starting him on valtrex or famvir (the two antivirals Dr G uses), but, if the picture is not so straight forward, you may have a hard time convincing the Pediatrician to give you a RX for antivirals. If that is the case you will need to get into see a dr. There are a few to choose from. There is if I am correct a NY Nids office, there is a office in Texas, and ofcourse there is Dr Goldberg in California. In addition to the antivirals, you will also need to be concerned with antifungals (generally nystatin/diflucan is used), you may also discover your child has a issue with Strep confirmed in an ASO titer...see (Pandas...not the bears). You will also want to remove all dairy from your child's diet, and make sure he does not consume whole wheat. In addition, if you have environmental allergies, you will need to look into using some regular nasal sprays daily, and even something like zyrtec/allegrea as needed too. I know this is alot of info to hand off, but really the best thing is to go onto Dr Goldberg's website and spend time going through those presentations. I know that recently there is a DVD that is available from a conference he had a few yrs ago. You may want to look into purchasing that, it may be more comprehensive then spending hours on his website. cat <>< emcommunic@... wrote: Hello and Happy Holidays, I would like to get some information on Valtrex. Guest guest
I have a question. I contracted Herpes Type 2 when I was 16 weeks pg with my daughter. Does that make her more suspectible to having the virus or is that not connected at all? Guest guest
I am not sure, but I would definitely talk to the pediatrician about this. You can find out one way or another from a lab test. I would check into that right away. cat Donna s <donnajohns@...> wrote: I have a question. Guest guest
: I have always wondered the same thing, I contracted parvovirus around 12 weeks of pregnancy and I have elevated herpes virus and CMV antibodies per bloodwork (thus these viruses may have reactivated some when I contracted the other virus). I understand that there are known risks that the baby can contract the virus in utero and/or other complications arise, but I have never gotten a straight answer as to whether it might make child more susceptible to the virus after birth. My son does not have high antibodies to these viruses, although bloodwork shows he has been exposed. Most pediatricians I know probably won't have a clue as to any connection, their knowledge is quite limited in immunology, I bet Dr. Goldberg has addressed this with some parents.. Guest guest
All the pedatricians I know say that it can only be contracted when travelling thru the birth canal and I was in an outbreak, but I had a C-section, but I still think there is a connection. So I just made an appointment with another DR and I will see what he says. Thanks " K. Guest guest
Last time I checked NY and Texas have nothing to do with Dr. Goldberg and they are not correctly following the protocol. A center is opening in California and Denver and I believe Seattle. BrainMatters inc is opening a clinic wherever they put a Spect machine Hope this helps Wayne > Hello and Happy Holidays, > > I would like to get some information on Valtrex.
