Guest guest
---Hi Joan I think the tremors and not being able to sleep are side affects of your medication. Im on oxycontin, and I use to get tremors if I missed my dosage, and some of these meds will keep you up, so it will be hard to fall asleep. My doctor gives me zanaflex 2mg. to help fall asleep, and he gives me vistaril for any itching and anxiety that some of the pain meds give you. I hope this helps you. " Joan: When is the last time you had a full scale lab test from blood samples? You may need to get one done as these symptoms may signal a problem. Why not call your PCP and request this; you wouldn't even have to see doc until this test was done and maybe not even then if the test results are within normal limits. If there are any " out of whack " results, your PCP would have someone call you to set up an appt. and, if necessary, refer you to a specialist. This, to me would just be a precaution and would not require you to start seeing rounds of docs. BTW, you will probably have to tell the person you speak to at the PCP's office the symptoms you are having so that the info can be passed on to your doc and the lab tests ordered. Strikes me that full thyroid and liver panels should be included; but, whatever your doc calls it, a complete, full scale workup. {{{And Pain-free Wishes}}} Carol " In the little decisions of life, use your mind; in the big decisions, use your heart " [author unknown]
Guest guest
Tremors can be caused by a variety of conditions. In my own case hand and finger tremors have been referred to as " essential tremors " with no known cause. They appear to be a part of my disease process, worsening as symptoms increase, becoming less of a problem when disease symptoms decrease. I have Reactive Arthritis. Klonopin seems to help when they get really bad. Years ago Elavil helped but I didn't like the side-effects it produced. Talk with your doctor. The tremors can interfere with your life in subtle and not so subtle ways. I was a pastor. Before finally deciding to " retire " due to health the tremors were noticeable to congregation members when I was speaking and became a question of concern and criticism. THe greater the stress I'm under the greater the tremors become. THe more active my disease is the more trouble I have with tremors. Now I'm a stay at home Dad doing the housework, shopping, yardwork, gardening, etc. The tremors are a problem from time to time, but at least I don't have to do much explanation to others since few people are ever around except when we are at church. Guest guest
Joan, I have Peripheral Neuropathy and take Neurontin and also Elavil... The Elavil was added a few months after taking the Neurontin as I was still getting burning pain and it was keeping me up nights... MY GP added the Elavil, it is proven to treat the burning pain of nerve damage and it also acts has a sleep aid... The hot sweats could they be from the hormone replacement therapy, a side effect? Also you may have a allergy, molds, certain foods. My hubby gets awful bouts of sweating when ever he drinks red wine, molds related to a lot of foods we eat... Like cantaloupe, mushrooms, vinegar, fish the list goes on and on... Even cheese and sour dough bread...beer... His pillow and the sheet he sleeps on get wet through whenever he eats a food he should not... There are a lot of reasons and you might want to mention to the doctor he may have a better idea of what might be causing the sweats.. don't think this is drug related. My problem is that I'm having trouble with sleep, but mostly I have been complaining of these awful bouts of sweating, and being over- heated. I am way past menopause, but if I was to liken it to anything, I would liken it to hot flashs. I'm on a hormone replacement program,
Guest guest
Hi Joan, I know this is a late post for your concerns, but I haven't been able to keep up with the mail. I too am having some of the same symptoms that you are. My pain levels are elevated, sweating and twitching a lot. I have just made an appointment with my pain specialist for Tuesday a.m. If anything helpful transpires I'll let you know. Kathleen in Calif.
