Guest guest
Hello: I am developing an IMP and am considering renting space from an existing practice. The existing practice would in addtion to providing space, do my billing, supplies, etc. What fee range based on the percentage of collections is standard? I live in the Atlanta area. Thank you, Sylvia , MD, MPH, ABHM ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Guest guest
Are you asking how your fees would be related to what you will collect from insurance?Or are you asking what you should pay the practice for providing you the space and the services? If it's the 2nd, you are basically describing most of the overhead of an "IMP" practice, except for Malpractice, health, life, disability insurance and the costs of start-up equipment, if this other practice doesn't provide you with something you need. Overhead as a percentage of gross collections for IMPs vary tremendously, based on expenses in their communities, whether they pay salaried employees, etc. Low end of te range is probably 25-35% of gross. Other IMPs want to weigh in on their overheads?Hello:I am developing an IMP and am considering rentingspace from an existing practice. Guest guest
From Drain, This kind of thing is done in veterinary offices all the time. You won't like the answer though. The usual fee for doing the billing, collections, overhead, and reception is.......66%. Usually the doctor who just comes in, sees the patient, and writes the script gets to take home a third of the fees. Even so that is more than the percent most MDs enjoy as an actual employee. However, as a contract person you will have to pay self employment tax, which takes away another 7%. The problem with this is that the reception people are not working for you. They are working for the other doctor. So most of the time the bad patients, and poor paying folks, the minor income problems are sent to you, and the big payers are siphoned to the other doc. Larry is right, it is a recipe for disaster Joanne Holland DVM/MD Sylvia wrote: Hello: I am developing an IMP and am considering renting space from an existing practice.
