Hi,

United Healthcare will cover Valtrex with a prior authorization.

Hello everyone. We just lost our Blue Cross. The new option is United

Healthcare. Does anyone have any experience with this insurance? My

main concern is Valtrex. Blue Cross covered it after we did a prior

authorization. Has anyone had this experience with United Healthcare?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

hi,

We were just at my youngest eye doctor, (she has heminopisa in her left eye),

there was a memo about no longer accepting United Healthcare. Something must bed

up with the company, we have sagamore.

Re: [sPAM] United Healthcare- Anyone have this insurance?

Hi

I have United Healthcare. My son isn't on Valtrex so I can't help there, but

we've had that battle with Famvir. It worked out as long as I pay them 2 copays

per month for this drug (I guess because he takes so many of them). It took them

6 months to pay for an oral surgery for my son. They kept claiming that they

didn't receive the " treatment code " after it had been mailed, emailed, faxed,

and spoken to then over the phone. They did finally pay up though. They've been

pretty good about covering most everything else. Speech therapy coverage is a

battle (we only get 20 sessions in a year), but I think that's becoming true

with most insurance policies. Of course, your version of the policy may be

different than mine and some companies opt out of certain coverages to make the

policy more affordable. As with any insurance policy, I'd say dig your heels in

and be ready for battle. Resubmit, resubmit, resubmit...

Best of luck

Dr G takes United Healthcare. Also we have Medco through United

Healthcare and have gotten Valtrex covered. With copay I use Medi-

Cal...so I pay zero for my prescriptions. AND I use a compounding

pharmacy that takes these two insurances so they wash off the blue

coating and put it in a gelatin cap for me...

Can you elaborate on the Medi-Cal? Don't the prescriptions have to be

prescribed by a " Medi-Cal " doctor to be covered?

Thanks!

Dr. G's office deals directly with the insurance company to get a prior

authorization from them for the amount needed. Then, either the insurance

company or Dr. G's office (not sure which) lets the pharmacy know.
