Guest guest
You may want to start out w/1/2 a capsule w/breakfast and dinner over a couple of weeks, then work up to a capsule. My boys don't seem to tolerate a whole capsule too well but they're only 42 & 50 lbs. However, they should be able to. I think it's about slowly working up to a full one twice a day over a couple of weeks period to prevent too harsh of a die-off of other bacteria. Guest guest
What are signs of not tolerating a probiotic? Guest guest
In my experience, the main 'intolerance' has been increasing OCD, anxiety, and aggrevating restless leg type symptoms. I have a history of PANDAS, though, so I'm quite prone to that. If you see negative behavior changes that don't go away in a couple of weeks, that could be triggered by a probiotic. Also, stomach problems, I think. But not necessarily when you first get started ... if you have yeast in the gut and start adding probiotics, some may get a mild die-off, some diahhrea (but probably not terrible), some gas, and feel pretty yucky. Most of the time, that would ease up as good bacteria get established. If you choose a good acidophilus without a dairy base, or use Kyodophilus - good for most but not for a few, you should be okay. Really, unless your child is very highly reactive, you would see good things rather than bad. But limiting the strains (one acidophilus, or the 3 gentle ones in kyodophilus), you're reducing the risk of intolerance.
