Wanted to announce to you all that I will be opening an "IMP style" practice here in Chapel Hill, NC as of July 1st. After much deliberation over options of solo practices I have opted to join with a gyn and DO (who does mostly pain management) here in town for a low overhead production charge (50%). They had a prior PT who worked within their office and had available space and staff time when he left. I only work 20 hrs/week so was nervous about how I could manage my own space financially. I refer often to these docs (they have a great reputation and she has an extensive waiting list). We had a mutual respect for each other and similar styles already. They had offered me a chance to pay a set rent, a la Gordon's original practice, but the details got overwhelming about how I would be charged individually for supplies, blood draws, phone call and support help and other "incidentals" and I was nervous about billing for myself. This way they do my billing in house and all supplies and support are included. It will be IMP style b/c it will be essentially a solo practice by me - keeping my own records in AC, providing 24/7 access through Onebox, sometimes working without an MA. Here is the website for your thoughts.. http://drneva.wordpress.com. I originally bought a website through Brinkster but found it difficulty to change on the fly so, with Andy Barbash's help went to a free wordpress blog site and find it much easier. I'm in the process of getting my original domain name at Brinkster (www.drneva.com). to map over to the wordpress site. By the way, I am leaving a group primary care practice in town and just sent out over 600 letters about the move. The reception has been very enthusiastic so far. I am staying on insurance panels (but whittling them down some). My biggest concern right now is getting all the old records onto AC and being ready to go on 7/1. The practice I'm going to uses Lytec for PM so I'm considering getting the interface for AC and Lytec but it is pricey and I may try to go without at first. Thanks for all the info. You guys have really helped me move toward this ideal model! I appreciate any feedback.Neva Bartholomew Re: virtual visit content> To: lynnhri@..., practiceimprovement1 > > > > > > > Depends on the patient and how well we know each other, but, > if > > any hesitancy, would> > set a policy that any controlled substance planning must be > done > > in person. > > And it seems you have some reservations.
