Ros,

It is pretty hard to guess why folks do what they do and then add " job "

to it and for some reason there must be something " logical " going on.

Seems to me that " logical " is just another one of those things that I

fool myself with. It seems that if I can figure out a " logical reason "

why someone did this or that, or chose this or that for me, then it all

fits into some story, I get the evidence I need to act the way I want.

So when my ex husband acts " logical " well then he is right! LOL If he

doesn't... guess what? He is WRONG! LOL Oh I just crack me up...

So if your boss gave someone else the days you wanted then he MUST have

a good reason (logical one!) if not... well then he is obviously ...

wrong! <smile>

I sometimes think, I think too much. If I want this or that, I can ask

and if I don't get it, then I can let someone know my story just got

blown all to Hell and I am not a " happy camper " or I can come up with a

story I like better. If you are looking for the job that is the one you

need, it will be right there... I know what it feels like to get " just

the experience you need " and you don't " want it " yet! LOL My husband

will be the story I need until I am done with it I suppose. And

actually I have no new chapters, so either he is working on a trilogy,

or there is just not much going on!

That perceived fear and control is one of those " never ending stories "

and I am getting darn near ready to end it! <smile>

Lovingly,

April

Has anyone else ever noticed that there seems to be this thread of

fear through a lot of this groups' emailings? It silences us at

times. At times, we're afraid to discuss patient cases or to share

forms out of fear of HIPPA violations. To a point, we're afraid to

discuss reimbursement or finance issues for fear of collusion. I'm

currently re-reading 1984 and I hate to say that there are a few

similarities. As a group, we're not sure WHAT THE RULES ARE, so we

often chose to not discuss and not learn from each other. And

insurers and the gov't can seem like big brother at times, seeming to

purposefully obscure the rules while imposing stiff penalties if you

break them.

Now, I'm not trying to overdo this point. Of course, there's a flood

of wonderful info that flows over these lines daily. But sometimes I

wonder if more direct legal counsel would be helpful for us. Is there

some way to find out for sure what we can and can't discuss? Could we

collectively hire a medical lawyer who could chime in on our

discussion threads and let us know our boundaries? Or bring someone

to IMP camp? Or some other solution? I think the more we can share

with each other, the stronger we'll be.

Just this mornings thoughts,

Jen

I have

this fear (see, Jen is right) of having a lawyer speak that will tell us

we can't do anything because of a possibility of some law being

interpreted some way.

Does

anyone have the experience/perspective to talk about this in a positive,

realistic way? If you or someone you know, has medical-legal

expertise (and a good attitude), let me know.

Jen, I

think you hit the nail on the head. How sad to see the effects of

fear of lawsuits, fines, and punishments stifle professionals who have so

much to give. I actually think that IMP's are some of those who are

changing this culture of fear.

I

agree and think it is a wonderful idea for an IMPCamp lecture. Sharon and

Gordon, any chance of adding someone to discuss this kind of stuff or is

the agenda already pretty full.
