Guest guest
Hi Lynne, I hope you find the same support and information that I have in this group. I know it's very difficult dealing with SSDI. Keep plowing thru though. I know first hand that living with chronic pain impacts every aspect of our lives, from work to family. Sometimes those who we think should be supportive, are not. There have been many discussions on this within our group. We are here to support you. Kathleen in Calif.
Guest guest
Lynne, I did not want to mess with SSDI until I figured out I was going to starve to death without it! I had worked hard up to the point that I could no longer function, but remember it is a right to be taken care of here in the USA after you have been hurt;that's the way I look at it,I gave it my all, paid in my dues(or taxes) and now it is time to give some of it back;it has been 3 years and I go to my hearing in June;I am so glad to the end is near:this case has been remanded back because of the stupid mistakes made that in turn caused the denial: the SS people are only human-but man are they ever thick up-stairs! slogan ===== __________________________________________________
Guest guest
the SS people are only human-but > man > are they ever thick up-stairs! > slogan Tell me about it! My sister went legally blind from diabetes. She wears glasses, and appears " normal. " The jerk at the SSI office thought she had to be stone blind to get disability. He asked where her cane was etc. She had to show him the code or whatever the guidelines were, and practically do his job for him. No they are not very smart--they are conditioned to think that people are out to get something for nothing. Guest guest
, And when people fool SS into giving them something for nothing-how I wish SS would have the backbone to take it back;but they seem like they never do. slogan ===== __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Hi Molly, Goodluck for the 20th, (you won't really need it.) Enjoy the journey, the band is such a great tool. Cheers, Dorothey > > Hi All - > > I am due to banded on Oct 20th, and am looking forward to it. Won't bore you with my Optifast delusions (this is week 2 and I swear I nearly licked a loaf of bread yesterday in the bakery when picking up bread rolls for my partner). > > At my heaviest I was 110kg and at my lightest through diet and exercise 80. However at 159cm, and my weight at 94kg my BMI is up around 36-37 mark - I have decided to move forward with the band. > > My godmother doesn't understand why I am going ahead with the op as (in her words) - You aren't super fat any more just do some more diet and exercise. Bless and my partner thinks I should just exercise more. I already do 8 hours per week - so really with work, kids etc when else am I going to? > > For me the band is about getting return on my investment of exercise and helping to control the portion sizes and my food intake. As a general rule i am pretty good about what I eat, only this year there has been additional stress (cancer, selling family home relocating parents into nursing home etc) and i was devasted to see my weight march back on 9kgs in 6 months - despite exercise. > > I have had one or two negative questions/postings regarding being a lower weight bander, but for me I feel its the best thing and I am looking forward to life post band. > > Thank you for your support. >

Guest guest
It is so hard to work it all out, but the decision is sure up to you and you alone. I have a band and live in Canberra. I must say that I am very happy with it but there are others that are so happy with the sleeve. You will find lots of help on here, so let us know what you decide.. Cheers, Dorotheyr
