Guest guest
Asperger's is not a regression. It is a high functioning form of Autism. I have 2 girls that are Aspergers and their IQ's are around 130 for the 15 yr old and at last check 145 for the 8 yr old. RETT is a regressive conditon and in some cases PDD can be regressive. If your doctors are telling you Aspergers is a regressive conditon , you need new doctors. I myself am an adult aspergers and I can assure you I am not regressed. I am 39 yrs old, married mother of 2 girls. My only issues are some sensory and things that are simple everyone maybe difficult for me. Things that are difficult for everyone are simple for me, and the issue of difficulty in making friends maybe true I just am not really interested in having that friend you call everyday. To me I guess the best way, (please forgive me I do not wish to offend) is that (I like to watch others interact it is far easier then doing it my self. I can fake it if I have too. Please read up on regressive forms of Autism . Caroline Milligan CaCi32@... Visual spots Hi all - (This question is cross-posted)... My 5 year old just started complaining about seeing spots. He's not too great at describing it to me, but I do know that they're colorful, they're worse when it's dark, and it also appears that they are interfering a bit in seeing things and some of the spots appear pretty large (I asked him to try to draw them). They were scaring him. (I told him they were angels and he's not scared now, so he's talking about them a bit better now instead of refusing to talk because he was scared.) Anyone have any idea what this could point to or have similar experiences w/their kids? I get spots when I have visual migranes but they're not bright and multicolored. He's also complaining about migrating joint pain, starting around the same time. Before that, he was complaining of headaches on top of his head (hasn't complained lately and I don't ask 'cause I don't want to implant complaints). Before that was the 5 months of fatigue and 100.0 fever daily w/ loss of eye contact and changes to speech and cognitive function. I think it's probably something inflammatory going on but there is no concern from local doctors who just want to diagnose him w/Asperger Syndrome (which makes me angry that they just want to say he's regressing into this at 5 years old when he did NOT have some of the issues he's dealing with now). I'll shut up now or end up high on a soapbox lol. Anyway, I'd appreciate any input. Thanks- __________________________________________________________ Sucker-punch spam with award-winning protection. Guest guest
Hi , I am sure I don't have to tell you I agree it is something viral related. Will the doctor order any blood work at all? I am surprised there is no concern from any doctor with a 5 month fever. Has our medical system gone mad? (Ooops, soap box, sorry.) Speech and cognitive issues aside, the fever, joint pain, headache and now spots I would think would be enough for a doc to at least consider some testing. Do you have the ability to see an Immunologist, or have you? Maybe that is someone who would listen. Keep us posted, > > Hi all - > > (This question is cross-posted)... > > My 5 year old just started complaining about seeing > spots. Guest guest
Hi , Has your son recently had an MRI ? Your sons symptoms are all Chiari symptoms. I know I've posted this before but you may have missed it. My son was diagnosed with a severe Chiari 1 Malformation at 5 1/2 yrs. old. He needed neurosurgery to give his brain the room it needed to grow as well as to correct the decreased cerebral spinal fluid flow to his brain. He's come along way since his surgery. ALL CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS NEED TO HAVE AN MRI with a/ CINE FLOW STUDY, AS WELL AS AN EEG TO CHECK FOR BRAIN ABNORMALITIES !!! I don't understand why Dr. Goldberg doesn't make this part of the work-up. It should be the first thing on the list to do!! So much pain, brain damage and grief could be avoided if the Chiari is found early. More information is available at www.chiariinstitute.com Take good care, >From: <thecolemans4@...> >Reply- > < > >Subject: Visual spots >Date: Sun, 25 Feb 2007 12:00:41 -0800 (PST) > >Hi all - > >(This question is cross-posted)... > >My 5 year old just started complaining about seeing >spots. Guest guest
Hi - I did get the message, and I appreciate it. I guess my first thought is " that's not it " since he had responded to the protocol so well and didn't get sick until later. Also, his big brother did so well, too. The difference between the two, I think, is that my oldest developed antibodies against HHV6, and my youngest never did (still hiding). It's highly unlikely, since active infection was documented in his brother, that he does not have HHV6 - yet the antibodies (once low positive 1:10) remain negative. But I definitely agree - this child should have an MRI. At the last visit to the neurologist, she looked at me like I was a freak and said this is a wonderfully bright happy child. His eye contact at the time was more than 50% diminished. Blind. Completely ignored my concern about changes in speech, personality, reports of confusion and disorientation. Oooh I feel my soapbox growing under my feet. Did your child still also need the protocol and benefit? (I wish I could specifically remember details). Thanks- --- LINDA A <lsa5885@...> wrote: > Hi , > > Has your son recently had an MRI ? Your sons > symptoms are all Chiari > symptoms. Guest guest
Wow! That's a hard one to solve. I guess those symptoms could cover alot of different problems. Anything, from the simplest... staring at lights, looking away and seeing bright spots (Is he light sensitive?) to the most frightening thing...a brain tumor. In my case, I've had those symptoms with Rhuematic fever following a low grade strep infection that I didn't even know I had. Strep was going through my sons' school. He had it. My husband had it. But, I never got the sore throat. I did feel offish, tired. Suddenly, at insta care I was told that I had rhuematic fever. My doctors seen only one case in five years. It had those symptoms. Including hard feeling lymph glands and then some odd hand movements/twitches began. But, I understand that you can show one, two, or all of the rhuematic symptoms. But, I know that you are the pro on strep issues. --- In , <thecolemans4@...> wrote: > > Hi all - > > (This question is cross-posted)... > > My 5 year old just started complaining about seeing > spots. Guest guest
Hi - I've had the same issue - everyone having strep, me too but with no symptoms. I think I did have a subclinical case of rheumatic fever but it's not confirmed, and labs didn't show an acute phase reaction - but they weren't done till many months later and could be why. I did have heart murmer onset and later more murmers come up, but because I wasn't " seriously ill " and didn't " walk like rheumatic fever " (what does that mean?), strep and high ASO just wasn't considered a problem for like, two years. ASO today is 945. I actually received better care from the doc in the box for the first couple of years than from internal meds and specialists. I'm not so much a pro on strep as simply quite experienced w/the problems that can go with it lol. Right now, it's kidney problems. Joy. Funny, that scared the doctors, though, and now they all are hurrying to do more tests... I've been complaining about the kidney pain when the ASO goes up for years but apparently this is the first time I've been heard. I'm grateful the two docs I'm working with now are truly interested in helping. On the lights/spots thing, he sees them from the moment he wakes up. And actually, I'm very curious to find out what his ASO comes back as... something I didn't even consider this entire time until I started thinking some of his clearing his throat just might be a tic. Duh. Deal with strep every day of my life and not even wonder once if his could be elevated. Hopefully I'll find out soon. --- friendsofcam <friendsofcam@...> wrote: > Wow!
