Very interesting question. We stopped Tenex a few months ago because my son

was seeming lethargic after several rounds of neurofeedback training. The

neuro said that many patients need to make adjustments to meds through the

neurofeedback process so advised us to do a trial off the Tenex. Right away, we

was

also brighter and much more focused. But we have also seen a decrease in

frustration level and more yelling behavior. I didn't connect the two. He's

since done a round of neurofeedback training targeting the frustration level

that

brought down the yelling/high frustration but seemed to temporarily lead to

more goofy behavior. Aack, if it's not one thing, it always seems to be

another.

We're not working with Dr. G anymore so I'll be curious to hear what he says.

Would you mind posting his thoughts about reducing Tenex and lowered

frustration levels to the group?

Absolutely. I probably won't hear from him until Tuesday, late in the

day, though. Unless the office is open tomorrow.

Gaylen,

I am new to the list and just beginning to research different treatment

options for my 2 year old that was daignosed with autism in December. I was

just curious why you were no longer seeing Dr. G? I'm trying to decide if I

should take my son to him. It is a huge expense to fly to CA and stay in a

hotel and probably have to pay out of pocket for all the medical expenses as our

insurance deductible is $5000 if they even cover this at all.

Thank you,

Caldwell

Donna,

My first reaction when reading this was " infection " because every

time my son is ill or getting ill or has something brewing in his

sinus, he is irritable, tantrummy, unexpected outbursts, etc.

I have no idea if your son was/is getting ill, or if Tenex has immune

system impact that a decrease would accelerate this happening, but

this was my first reaction.

For what its worth!

Mainly financial reasons. Our insurance stopped paying for phone consults

and it was a major drain on our ability to do the various other therapies that

my son needed as well. We found a local doctor willing to continue the

protocol, which was helpful for my son.

If your child has viral problems and immune dysregulation, I do think that

the benefit of care he'd get from Dr. G is well worth the initial expense. We

worked with Dr. G for almost three years and had seemed to hit a point where my

son was relatively stable on the protocol and we weren't seeing enough

increased benefits from medicine changes to make it worth the money to continue

doing the protocol long distance.

We've been fortunate in that my son has been pretty stable since we started

working with the local doctor but there have been a few times that I wished I

had Dr. G's expertise to help pull him out of a slump.
