Guest guest
Has anyone used " Wings for Little Angels " through Unlocking Autism for airfare to Dr. Goldberg recently? What is the turn around period for travel date approval? I used them in 2002 to get my son to Dr. G the first time and we are need to go back for another visit. Is there another program that does free/discounted travel I could look in to as well? Does the Days Inn in Tarzana still give a discount to Dr. G patients? Thanks! - in Mobile, AL __________________________ Reality lies beyond the horizon... Wonderwegian
Guest guest
Did you ever get a response to your question.? I would be courious about what " Wings for Little Angels " is. We live in Missouri and would like to see Dr. G but cost of getting there, hotel, and dr. fees is holding us back. Guest guest
Go to _www.unlockingautism.org_ (http://www.unlockingautism.org) . On the left hand side of the screen you'll see Wings for Little Angels in blue lettering. Clicking on it will bring you to an application. Wings is a program I started several years ago with Unlocking Autism. I am no longer a member of that organization, but I did pass the program along to another representative when I left. As far as I know it is still running. They have several airlines who they can coordinate with to arrange free travel for medical purposes only. The final decision is up to the airline, but the applications are usually not difficult to get approved. I've used the program myself, although not recently. It is really helpful. -Sharon

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Thanks, Sharon, for the info. You helped me when we used the program before. , I filled out the online application form over a week ago and haven't heard back yet. I did find this on line from American Airlines/AMR Foundation (which is the company we flew last time with WFLA) " : Miles for Kids in Need For travel for children 18 years or younger and parents. All requests must be referred through an approved non-profit agency. Contact: Miles for Kids in Need American Airlines, Frequent Traveler Special Programs MD 2705 P.O. Guest guest
April, That is not a bad idea, but you would have to get enough miles on a single airline to accomodate the child and the parent(s). Also, some airlines won't let you transfer miles to another person. My mother tried to donate her miles to Wings for Little Angels and the airline wouldn't let UA accept them. It just depends on the airline. -S

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Just a thought: If you are plugged in to a church network, perhaps you could ask the churchgoers to donate frequent flyer miles? I know it's been done at my home church though I'm not sure what the process is for transferring them. Or perhaps have a business traveller friend?
