The price of my fall..

Well, some of you might remember my lovely ending to the trip to

Lubbock (slipped and fell in the shower at the hotel). I'm glad to

report that there is no major damage (had an MRI done)..I do have a

bulging disc, but he said that was not bad for " someone my age " (i'm

31). Everything is structurally sound and my pain is probably from

the muscle tears and some swelling around the bones of my vertebrae.

Good news, as I was afraid since I tend to have chronic muscle spasms

and cricks, there was some nerve damage. I'm doing a self-PT thing

(b/c I have some educational bkgrnd on that) and taking my meds as I

can (muscle relaxers make me sleeepy).

I've missed 1 and 1/2 days of work b/c of this (I have one sick day

and 5 personal days left for the school year). I'm frustrated..and

still not better, but am improving. I understand it can take as long

as 4-6 weeks to heal. Our heads weigh a lot!!!

At any rate, I thought I'd give y'all an update. The only weird

thing is, both meds I have say to be careful if you're on any thyroid

hormone. I'm concerned but, since I see Dr. R (he prescribed one of

them) on the 13th, I figure I'll be ok til then. I have a steroid

pack of which I have to take one pill soon after I take my

Synthroid. I don't take the muscle relaxer til bedtime. I hope this

doesn't slow my healing process. As a sign language interpreter, I

need all the stability I can get!!! We're off next week so, YAY!!

Yes, I agree with Imelda. Dr. R does rock! I wish he was in

DALLAS! :-)

P.S. I stayed at the Lubbock Inn last time. I'm afraid I have to

resort to staying there again b/c I'm flying and need the airport

shuttle as well as being close to the Dr. Anyone stayed at the

Guesthouse Inn? Reviews I've read sound kinda scary...

Thanks, guys!!!!!
