Hypothyroidism causes tissue damage which takes time to heal. It can take months or years for your temps to come up after you are on your optimal dose. There is no substitute for time. Other factors that can influence your temps would include ferritin and cortisol levels. I would also state that just having your Free Ts in range is not optimal for very many folks. Most people need their Free T3 and Free T4 to be in the upper half of their ranges to feel well and be free of hypo symptoms. Some folks need them near the very top of their ranges. What you

may need is highly individual. kschroen wrote: Can anyone give me guidance on this??I have Hashi's hypo and worked with a doc a few years back who stated that I needed to be in the temperature range of 97.4 - 98.2 for optimum thyroid function. I have been taking 129.6 (2 grains) of Naturethroid and my labs have come back perfect for the past year. I don't have them with me right now because I am at work, but since October of last year, I have had my TSH at 0.5 and both my T4 and T3 are in the normal ranges.I stopped taking my birth control pills (and all other meds except Naturethroid) in April of this year with the hopes of waiting 3 periods to begin trying to conceive my first baby. Starting with my last period, I

began taking my basal temp, and it has been reading low from 96.2-97.4. What does this mean when my labs come back nearly perfect, but my temp is that low? As you can imagine, I want to go through the proper steps to have a normal, healthy baby. I am very worried about the possibility of miscarriage due to thyroid complications.I have an appointment with my OBGYN next week for a "pre-conception" meeting. I also scheduled an appointment with my endocrinologist, but she is not into alternative meds or other. Last year, when I was trying to lose weight, I went to see her, cried for months as she made me write down a food diary, told me I wasn't eating that badly and then encouraged me to work out. So, I ended up seeing another doctor who prescribed Phentermine along with a diuretic and B12 shots. That's how I lost 35 lbs. I also trained and walked a half-marathon in January 2005. I have gained 5 lbs back since

then. But I am still in the "obese" section of the BMI at 5'2" and 170lbs. My BMI is 31.I have been on a strict diet for 3 weeks and excersizing 2 times daily - the scale has not moved one pound. Do you think that I should be taking more Naturethroid?
