I have a great couple who is moving to New Hampshire, about 20

min South of Dartmouth. They are BCBS. Anyone near there who is taking new

patients?

rural areas and marketting

Here's

what I did, it may or may not work for you...

Advertise

in the local newspapers. Usually low cost, like the Pennysaver.

Point out the benefits of your small and personalized practice.

Contact

your local newspapers and ask if they would like you to write a

weekly/monthly column on a timely and relevant health topic. Offer that

for free and it works as an advertisement as well.

Another

point to consider is, do you really need more patients? How many can

you handle and still enjoy life? Once you reach a certain level of

patients, word of mouth starts to kick in as well.

If they

are not coming in, are there barriers in place? Is your office in a

crummy neighborhood? Are your hours too restrictive? Does your

LPN turn them off?

Good

luck!

OK-so I started my solo practce one year ago. I am

in a rural area of

NJ that is growing. The reason WHY I am where I am is because the

regional hospital recruited me with a forgivable loan. So I am at the

one year mark...have about 500pts...an the $ is steadily growing from

month to month, HOWEVER, I just feel like I should have more pts and

be busier. I have one staff member(LPN) and myself. I don't have to

pay for her insurance since she gets it through her husband. My

biggest expense is this stupid rent that the hospital suckered me

into...but I am stuck here for at least another 2yrs with this lease.

Anyway, I digress. I have run ads in the local papers and church

bulletins. I have contacted the schools and sent out information. I

have gone to the senior living facilities and have gotten on staff at

2 nursing homes. I also do laser procedures and I go to a local salon

once a month to drum up business which also helps drum up business

for my FP practice as well.

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO!?! The $ from the hospital will run out in one

year, and I want to make sure I am in a good financial spot this time

next year. Any thoughts, suggestions, advice?

Any other avenues of income? HELP!
