I agree ;

avacodos should not be eaten every day...too much fat. I always keep mine

for a free meal or free day and only eat it in moderation. :0)

I have looked and looked and looked for Ezekial bread. What is it and where do I find it? Sorry, if you have already said this, I must have missed it. I kept looking for the explanation of what it is and never saw it.

Thanks,

Deborah

but would like to maybe have some other ideas on what to do with these avacados?

Just last week someone was telling me how he ate avocados. He cuts them in half, takes out the stone, pours some vinegar in the hole, adds a little salt and pepper and eats it with a spoon right out of the shell . I went home and tried it and loved it!

Yes. Leave them out until they are tender to the touch around the stem end.

I just cut one up and it doesn't seem like it is ripe to me...seems like it should be softer than it is...they are still pretty hard...I think the wind blew them off of the tree instead of them falling...they live right on the water...so how can I get them to ripen? just leave them out?

Hi all :-)

Am new here, but I do have a 'recipe' for avocados. Take a ripe banana and avocado and blend them together in a food processor or blender, chill and eat. :-)

Very yummy! Kids even like this.

To ripen avocadoes, first break off the little knob thing where the stem was

then place the avocado in a brown paper bag with an apple.

I grew up in Jupiter, Caroline....left 30+ years ago saying I'd never go back. Well, never say never....in July we bought a house in Port St. Lucie (precisely where Frances decided to land!) and will be living there from mid-December to mid-April for the next couple of years....and at some point maybe year-round.

You are more than welcome to come visit!<G>

Avacados are my favorite food. They are so good for you they are considered a "super food". You can dice one up in a salad, slice a half for a sandwich, or eat it plain. The kids love it tossed with other veggies and sometimes some sprouted grain pasta. I find this food ideal when I am not feeling well. Even on a weak stomach it is very soothing. If you don't like Mexican style guacamole, make Greek or Italian or any other blend you can come up with.

Greek Guacamole

2 avocados roughly mashed

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 Tbl minced fresh oregano or 1 tsp dry

Juice from 1/2 lemon

Italian Guacamole

2 avocados roughly mashed

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 Tbl minced fresh basil or 1 tsp dry

1 large Roma tomato, chopped

Party Salsa

8 oz. prepared salsa

2 avocados, cut into bite size pieces

1 clove garlic, crushed

4 oz. sliced black olives

4 green onions, sliced (green and white parts)

1 large Anaheim chile - peeled, seeded and finely chopped

1 Tbl fresh minced cilantro or 1 tsp dry (optional)

Stir all ingredients together in a medium bowl and serve with fresh veggies, pita bread, tortillas, etc. Serve it poured over a block of cream cheese for a real treat.

Put them in a brown paper bag together, they should ripen in a few days. If you want one faster put a slice of apple in the bag with it. Only do this a few at a time so you don't have more than you can consume ripe and ready to eat. They keep very well in the refrigerator, just take a few at a time out to ripen.

I don't know what original post you are referring to, but it should be

noted that there are different types of avocados (Florida &

California, for example - light vs dark skinned) and the nutritional

specifications are very very different.
