Guest guest
Don't ever worry about posting questions, even though you think we've talked about the subject a lot. We can always use refresher courses! I know I can. And new folks are always coming on board and can use information. Dr. recommended an iron supplement to me (Iron Plus) that is available from Herbal Healer Academy (you can just Google it). I have a really sensitive stomach, and it was beaten up pretty well from years of anxiety. He said he'd seen patients have an easier time on it. I've been able to take a lot of this iron (now 3 tablets per day at about 27mg iron each) and so far, so good. It really shot up my ferritin, although I'm still battling with my iron utilization numbers. It has some other stuff in it, though, so you should ask your doc about taking it. I have had to resort to taking Prilosec twice a day, since earlier this year, because my stomach got sensitive again. I don't know whether it was from my gall bladder removal, eating badly, or the stress of insomnia that I had at the time. But, I'm staying on it, since my doc doesn't object. I might try to slowly come off of it down the road, but right now I just want some peace in my tummy. I do know that I didn't have problems with this HHA iron in 2005, before I had to resort to the Prilosec. I was on 1 tablet back then. Guest guest
HHA is also ferrous bisglycinate. I chose not to use it because it has a lot of other stuff in it. rgrprop wrote: Don't ever worry about posting questions, even though you think we've talked about the subject a lot. Guest guest
I don't know. Mine does not even say that much, but I get sleepy after taking it. I will probably continue taking it until all six bottles are gone, but I may take an extra 15 mg of Armour at the same time, or I may take it at bedtime instead of lunch.Katy wrote: Thanks so much, Jan. Guest guest
The best iron supplement that I have found is called " Floradex. " It is gluten/soy free and is a liquid supplement. I have taken it during all my pregnancies and am taking it now since my iron/ferretin levels were extremely low. You can get it at your local healthfood store. It has to be used up within 30 days. Guest guest
The best iron tab that I took was from my Chiropractor but I'm sure you can buy this over the internet. http://www.vitamins4you.biz/product-detail.asp?name=n1630 It's the Nutra West Iron. Good stuff! My dr has given this product to the UT football players and they've seen great results on it. Sue > > I know this has been beaten to death, but I can't seem to find it in a > search. Guest guest
Have you tried the feosol Carbonyl? There are two different feosols. I take the Carbonyl one with dinner. Taking with food helps. My ferritin has climbed from under 10 to 40+ something as of last year. Also I have heard/read that taking Vitamin C with the iron helps absorption. I have done that from the start also. About 250mg chewable at the same time I take the iron. > > I know this has been beaten to death, but I can't seem to find it in a > search.
