Guest guest
How do you bill when the patient only comes in for an Urinalysis(81002) test? DO you only bill 81002? OR Do you also charge 99211? If you do then what is suppose to be documented in the Nurse's note? Do you also do the vital signs to justify 99211?, etc. etc. We currently bill only 81002 and someone asked me why that only when the test takes a bit of time of nurse? What are you thoughts, and specifically how do you all put it together? Thanks, IB
Guest guest
Why would a patient only be coming in for a UA? I can think of reasons, but unless you are only checking for blood or something on someon who had it before, why is there no visit? If you have to make a decision about the data, then it deserves a visit. 99211 does not require a doc, a 99212 does not require any vs or anything more than a chief complaint; so once you have asked How are you? you are already at that level. People who return for repeat UA's in my experience always have more questions, so I tend to book them an appointment. ________________________________ From: on behalf of imdadb Sent: Tue 6/10/2008 8:28 PM To: Subject: How to bill Urinalysis?
