My name is n. I'm 40 yrs old and was diagnosed 2-3 yrs ago with

hypopituitarism & secondary hypothyroidism. For 12 yrs, I've been

treated for depression.

It started after the birth of my 3rd child. At first, it was called

post-partum depression. But, it didn't go away as the baby grew.

The " depression " was very hard to treat. Even when I would find a

medicine/dose that helped, I would not stay stable for more than a

couple months, I'd say. And it only helped my symptoms, and did not

make me feel " normal " .

The very worst symptom I had was lack of energy. I was SOOO tired.

But, I just had to keep chugging ... I worked, had 3 kids with one a

baby, and just a busy life. The fact that my husband just DID NOT

UNDERSTAND how bad I really felt AND that my oldest child was (is)

ADHD, did not help matters. Every day was just a matter of doing what

I HAD to do. I hated me, I hated my life!

I FINALLY found a primary care doctor who was able to determine from

lab tests that I was hypo-pituitary. I've been seeing an

endocrinologist ever since. I am on Synthroid and HGH. I have had to

decrease the anti-depressants meds as I've increased the Synthroid.

Just recently, I have completely gotten off the anti-depressant. I

hope it remains so.

The cause is unknown. Not a tumor, no injury, etc.

I do not know anyone else who is hypo-pituitary. I would love to hear

from anyone else with this condition.
