Guest guest
Hi , My daughter, andra (3) was in a normal day care until she was diagnosed at one year old. About three monhts later we removed her because the center she was in didn't have people dedicated to her to learn how to " play " with her. andra is probably moderately retarted, has 8-15 myoclonic seizures per day. At 3 years old she still doesn't walk, talk or feed herself. So, we hired a nanny who comes to our house. Luckily, I knew somebody interested in the position. She was the sister to one of my best friends growing up and I knew her family better than I knew my own family. If it were not for this nanny, I wouldn't (or my husband) wouldn't be working. It's a hard decision and I think you need to follow your gutt. What feels right for you and your family is probably right. Its been 2 yrs. Now that the apointments have " some-what " slowed down, I was thinking about finishing school and going back to work. I have 2 months left of school to become a medical assistant. I was wondering if anyone in this group has their child in a daycare and how they feel about it. I'm kina skeptical of putting him in daycare just because he requires special needs and attention. I'm so scared that something would happen and he can't talk (does A LOT of sign) he wouldn't be able to tell his caretaker what is wrong. I have found daycares who except children with special kids but it still doesn't sit right with me. I think its because I'm so used to him being with me all this time. I would appreciate any feedback from all of you. Thanks. I'm thinking it must be about 2 weeks. I have thought of you all the way through your pregnancy, and will continue to do so until I hear that your new baby is well. > > > > The very best of luck, I can imagine that you must be so nervous.
