Hi guys,

has taken a turn for the worse in the last 24 hours and we don't

understand why. He has been on prozac for a total of about 6 weeks,

with an increase about three weeks ago. After the adjustment, he had

been making slow, but noticable, incremental improvements every day

until last night (Tuesday), when he started to seem a bit anxious;

pacing, circling around and around the table, etc. Today, he is very,

very anxious -- almost in a state of what I would describe as panic,

unless he is playing his Sonic the Hedgehog video games -- and is

furiously chewing up his lips and the skin around them so that they

are very red and sore. He is NOT spacy, but he is perseverating and

eye contact is poor. He is having a great, great deal of trouble

interacting with anyone outside the family, and he has been unable to

articulate what is wrong. He says he feels fine (i.e., healthy).

His food intake has been very tightly controlled, so I don't think

there have been any infractions, but then again, I can't be absolutely

sure he didn't get ahold of some " contraband " at school. The smoke

from the huge Day Fire (we live in the Santa Clarita/Antelope Valley

area of CA) has been a problem in our area for the last two weeks,

plus we have had winds and extremes in weather (cool days and warm

ones in alternating succession).

What are some of your experiences with this kind of backslide? What

kinds of things can cause anxiety?

I've sent an update to Dr. G's office, but it will be a good 18 hours

before we hear anything...any and all advice and suggestions,

including what I can do to make him more comfortable in the meantime,

are welcome!! :)

Thanks IA,

Donna
